The Arrogance of Americans

The arrogance of the Americas began a long time ago and they still continue today.  It’s the belief that those who are not Americans are less than intelligent or uncivilized.  If we look back in our history and study the attitudes and opinions of those then, we may come to realize that these same attitudes and opinions are prevalent today.  Looking at another and finding the differences instead of seeking the similarities often times leads us to excusing our distrust, dislike, disdain or simply ignorance of them.  We know neither their culture, nor their history or even care to learn of their experiences and this oversight, this refusal to see all as having the same rights to exist, live and pursue their dreams as we do ends up with us categorizing them instead of trying to understand them. The American Indians were thought to be savages because they choose to live in teepees instead of log cabins and worshipped the Great Spirit instead of a single God and did n...

Walking in the Footsteps of Slaves

Image
Walking in the Footsteps of Slaves By Ronnie Manns A quote attributed to George Santayana reads "Those who are unaware of history are destined to repeat it." And if we combined this saying with that attributed to President John F. Kennedy which reads “Our problems are man-made — therefore, they can be solved by man”, we should then have the recipe necessary to not only correct the issues of this world but end the cycle of repetition.  Above is a picture of Milton House in Milton, Wisconsin.  It is described as recognized by the National Park Service's Network to Freedom as the last, certified Underground Railroad station that can be toured in Wisconsin. The Milton House operated as a stop on the Underground Railroad or "UGRR" from its construction in 1844 through the Civil War. At the Milton House, visitors have the rare opportunity to walk the very pathways of freedom when visiting this unique structure.  Tours are fully guided though the 1844 Milton...

The Andrea Mitchell Comment Proves Media not interested in Solutions

As a beloved follower of some political shows on MSNBC, I was both a little confused and sadden when I read about the comment made by MSNBC’s Andrea Mitchell while being a guest on Meet the Press.  I was confused because here was an elite media member who has always in the past compared where we came from to where we are today in order to draw a contrast and possibly find solutions to our problems.  I was saddened by the fact that she sat on television and began to attempt an education on what words or language should be used while in the office of president.  Saddened that she, of all people, should know that before any person or country can ever move forward, that they must first be well aware of how they got to where they are and from whence they came.  If memory serves, she, herself, has said that you will never know where you are going unless you know where you came from. The article can be found at TPM Livewire under the title “MSNBC's Andrea Mitchell Rips...

Has Extremist stolen the Soul of the Republican Party

According to history, Abraham Lincoln was a Republican and he as well as so many others fought to free the slaves. What happened to this party? The Republican Party used to serve the people and was especially mindful of over-taxation but now they are pushing budgets like the one Paul Ryan has proposed. What happened to this party? The republican party used to stand strong for equality and would compromise but never ever on principals. They would defend their positions and vehemently debate but would never tolerate lies being told on their opponents. What happened to this party? One thing we can be sure of, the information contained in this article and the silence of those who sit by while Mitt Romney lies, avoid filling out the full application for the job he is seeking and refuse to disclose any and all information requested by the voters are not the same caliber of Republican that is spoken about above. Judge for yourself, the article is below; Could 2012 be America's Last Pr...
