Iran rhetoric seems par for the course during American Elections

Maybe it’s just me but it appears that Iran seem to always raise its rhetoric mostly during an election here in America.   I do not know if they are secretly attempting to find allies in our nomination process or ways to contribute via Super Pac for influence in our elections. According to Parisa Hafezi of Reuters/Raheb Homavandi, in the article titled Iran sends rare letter to U.S. over killed scientist reports “Iran said on Saturday it had evidence Washington was behind the latest killing of one of its nuclear scientists, state television reported, at a time when tensions over the country's nuclear program have escalated to their highest level ever.   Iran has threatened to block the Strait of Hormuz leading to the Gulf if sanctions are imposed on its oil exports, and has threatened to take unspecified action if Washington sails an aircraft carrier through the strait, an international waterway.” I believe that this is only an attempt to instigate a fight with the US...

A simple solution to high gas prices

The idea that this country can not deal with the price of gas and how constricting it is to our way of life is a complete joke.   History tells us that this trend comes about this time every year and goes for a few months here and there.   The spin offered by those who believe this is a hot issue is astounding and therefore made to appear so complex that many Americans just throw up their hands and look for anyone who will promise to find the answer. I allowed myself to be drawn into this discussion by Laura Conaway ’s feed on the Maddowblog article titled Your Democratic president on GOP ideas .   In it she quotes Ezra Klien, whom I have great respect for and love to listen to.   While I do agree with what was reported as Ezra writing “t he shift toward Republican thinking hasn't gained President Obama support from Republicans, and it leaves a lot of empty space on the left,” I do not totally agree with his premise and find myself agreeing with the comment by April...

Unrest in Libya is an excuse for increase in Oil prices

How many times have we heard this story about unrest in particular places being the reason for rising gas process here?   I am quite skeptical when I hear his mainly because of the large amount of storage capacity these same companies have and especially since the increases were happening long before this really was announced. Pablo Gorondi of the Associated Press reports in his article titled Oil jumps above $100 on Libya supply disruption that “ Oil prices shot as high as $103 a barrel on Thursday as chaos in Libya disrupted crude supplies from the OPEC nation, and traders worried instability could spread to other oil-rich countries in the Middle East. The mayhem has disrupted crude exports from Libya, which produces about 1.6 million barrels of crude per day and has the biggest oil reserves in Africa.   "With the disruptions in Libya potentially absorbing half of OPEC's spare capacity, we believe the risks now associated with further contagion are much higher," ...

Now could be the time for Energy Independence as the fight for equality spreads

I am sure that I join many Americans who see the turmoil in Egypt as an unspeakable act by those who wish not to honor the will of their people and harm, injury and kill their fellow Egyptians in order to stay in power.   I guess Egypt is not as far from America as we think because the same thing is happening here except not to such a degree. America has all of the evidence that we need to once again begin to discuss the need for energy independence.   To step down from our dependency on foreign oil and become more conservative on the fuels that we use now.   This also goes along with Associated Press White House Correspondent Ben Feller’s article Obama sharpens jobs element of energy pitch.   The president was quoted as saying "Making our buildings more energy efficient is one of the fastest, easiest and cheapest ways to save money, combat pollution and create jobs."   We are presented with an opportunity to revisit this worthwhile topic and actually do someth...
