MUST SEE MOVIE REVIEW; Secrets in their Eyes

Let me begin first by advising anyone reading this article that I am not a professional movie reviewer but I do know what I like and am never afraid to share when I am moved by anything or anyone.   Having said that, I must admit that this movie did much more than move me, it demonstrated who we are as human beings and how even non-verbal communications and body language can inspire feelings in any movie-goer. Secret in Their Eyes is rated as a PG-13 movie and categorized as a Crime, Drama, Mystery made on 20 November 2015 but it carries not only a star-studded cast but a story line that is often see but never felt to the degree this movie makes you feel.   It is described as “A tight-knit team of rising investigators, along with their supervisor, is suddenly torn apart when they discover that one of their own teenage daughters has been brutally murdered.” directed by Billy Ray with writers Billy Ray (screenplay) and Juan José Campanella.   It stars Chiwetel Ejiofor...

Kevin Costner’s Black or White Movie Review

I make no claim as a movie critic nor do I attempt to play one on television but I do know a good movie when I see it and a great movie when I feel it.  Kevin Costner’s Black or White is a great movie. For those who have yet had the blessing of seeing it, Black or White is basically a story about a grandfather played by Kevin Costner who losses his daughter at child birth and later his wife in a tragic car accident.  This leaves him alone to raise his biracial granddaughter in a posh, affluent neighborhood.  The issue becomes complicated when the child’s maternal grandmother played by Octavia Spencer begins to seek to have a bigger role in the life of this child and is lead into filing for full custody with the help of her brother played by Anthony Mackie.  Now enters the father of the child played by Andre Holland who is convinced by both his mother and his uncle to take the lead and increase their chances of success. Make no mistake even with drug use, alc...

How Hollywood can help us keep our Children Safe

Ask any parent what is the number one responsibility of a parent and they will say to protect their children.  I know this because I have asked plenty of them and this was the same response from me as well.  I have recently discovered that this reason ad this reason alone may be the primary reason that so many parents fail and so many children are then lost to the streets.  A parent’s number one responsibility is not to protect our children, it is to educate them. Now the title of this piece is how Hollywood can help but before we get to that, we need to explain why protection is not number one and education is.  Think on this; as a parent you set yourself to believe that you need to protect your child and when you fail to do just that, a world of misery is dumped directly upon you.  You feel inferior and weak because your child is hurting and there seems to be nothing you can do to ease or stop it.  You sit there with your head up your butt wondering ...

Anti-Obama Documentary sheds light not on Obama but on Makers

In a time when it appears that money is the primary and sometimes sole motivator behind movements we make, it is apparent that this may have been the only true reason for the new anti-Obama documentary as evidenced by The Huffington Post in an article titled 2016: Obama's America' Expands Into More Theaters Amid Accuracy Issues by Kia Makarechi.  I say this because it appears that it’s co-director, Dinesh D’Souza and it’s producer, Gerald Molen, have risked their reputation to present a movie that is supposed to be based on fact while showing severe indifference. The article chronicles the rise of the gross at the box office “this past weekend” as well as the expansion of it’s audience.  It states that “Molen defended the project as “fair and truthful” in a recent interview” but “the Associated Press fact-checked the film, which attempts to trace the roots of Obama's ideology. The newswire service found a number of errors or claims that are not made in good faith”.  Th...
