Anti-Obama Documentary sheds light not on Obama but on Makers

In a time when it appears that money is the primary and sometimes sole motivator behind movements we make, it is apparent that this may have been the only true reason for the new anti-Obama documentary as evidenced by The Huffington Post in an article titled 2016: Obama's America' Expands Into More Theaters Amid Accuracy Issues by Kia Makarechi.  I say this because it appears that it’s co-director, Dinesh D’Souza and it’s producer, Gerald Molen, have risked their reputation to present a movie that is supposed to be based on fact while showing severe indifference.

The article chronicles the rise of the gross at the box office “this past weekend” as well as the expansion of it’s audience.  It states that “Molen defended the project as “fair and truthful” in a recent interview” but “the Associated Press fact-checked the film, which attempts to trace the roots of Obama's ideology. The newswire service found a number of errors or claims that are not made in good faith”.  The article named three notable examples but you can bet there were quite a few more.  For those who do not really know the whole story or for those who already have a disapproval stance about this man, this may be all that they need.  The damage comes when the past and future works of both co-director and producer becomes questionable to the movie going public based on this film.

For the audience who loved "Jurassic Park" and "Schindler's List,"  the question must now be answered if anything produced can now be believed or enjoyed.  There are millions of movie-goers who love a good fiction but they require that they know it’s a fiction before they purchase that ticket.  Plenty money will be made on those who have a severe dislike for this president but the millions that they could have made will not materialize because many will demand an honest and truthful portrayal instead of one slanted toward the makers political views, pushed upon them by those whom they have not the spine to say “no” to, or a brilliant idea based solely on how much money can be made.  For those viewers who claim the title Christian, lest I remind you that there is a such thing as “bearing false witness” and as Abraham Lincoln said himself  paraphrased “anyone who repeats or passes on a lie even not knowing that it is a lie is guilty of a falsehood“.  Maybe this does not matter to some of us but I hate to think justice and fairness is not a trait found in all of us.
