Congress Declarations of War

There used to be a feeling in America, that a few groups would never have to fear having their earned benefits threatened.   These groups included but were not limited to veterans, the poor and women.   History now shows that this is no longer the case. You would have had to be blind, deaf or dead not to hear the rhetoric about congress’s assault on women.   The small government people pushing legislation which may not put government in your business but does place government in your bedroom, home and now in a woman’s womb.   You see congress, not only federal but state as well, voting to allow males to decide what kind of health care women should be allowed to get while hoping no one notices how quickly and smoothly they passed Viagra coverage for themselves.   How some religious communities are all up in arms over contraception but completely quite about the choices men are free to make about preventing unwanted pregnancies, not to mention the avalanche of advertisement about

Open Letter to John Boehner

For those who say that individuals making minimum wage is unskilled and have no experience in a workforce peep this; as a mother I am a chemist because I have to mix my babies bottles, so tell me again how inexperienced I am. As a parent, I have to fix booboos which makes me a part of the medical field. So tell me again how inexperienced I am.   School days I spend most of my mornings getting the kids up and ready and out the door, that would make me a drill sergeant, so tell me again how inexperienced I am. In the evenings I have to make sense of a chaotic world and have to explain it to a four, five or six year old, that experience would make me an educator, so tell me again how inexperienced I am. During the day, I have to coordinate and prepare nutritious meals; that experience makes me a chef, short order cook, or dietician so tell me again how inexperienced I am. During the month, I have to pay bills, balance a checkbook, keep track of finances and make money stretch, that wo

Media Fooled Again Covering Ex-LAPD Officer’s Killing Spree from Wrong Angle

The first time I heard about Christopher Dorner and his killing spree, I was glued to the television and checking all stations for some more news.   All I got was focused on the alleged shooter and why he was so wrong in his actions.   Strangely, I understood this as the initial reaction to a story like this but as I am well known to do, I trusted that some journalist would dive deeper and attempt to discover more about why someone who had spent the majority of his life defending those who cannot or choose not to defend themselves would now, all of a sudden, turn and begin to commit the acts he swore to uphold.   That was until I read this article by Sharon Bernstein for NBC News Los Angeles titled Manifesto: Alleged Cop Revenge Shooter Named Targets, Blamed Asians, Hispanics and Lesbians and Updated 5:09 AM PST.   In this article Ms. Bernstein not only reports the news but also posts as much of this Manifesto as possible which allows readers to learn a little bit more about

The Debate over Drone Strikes

Recently the media world is all a buzzed about drone strikes killing Americans, while listening to their argument against it, one can see their point.   I mean, who wants to be the one who receives a visit from their own government with an order to kill you because they believe you are part of a terrorist organization.   You have got to admit, this would not be the first time our government has gotten this wrong.   So here comes the ACLU, the defender of all those abused by the system.   They step up to suck up all the camera time that they can to tell anyone who will listen that they are on the case.   The “pure” liberals follow not too far behind them to get their 15 minutes of fame and renew their “holier than thou” status.      I do not begrudge them their points of the argument and have to honestly admit, that their points do have merit.   What bothers me is their inability to present both sides of the argument instead on only talking about theirs.   There is a great cou
