Lesson learned and a Wish to Share, Everybody Listen Up

Learned something last night speaking to the wife that I did not know and thinking that I may not be the only male who didn’t know this, I wanted to share with you what I learned.  Now it goes without saying that men and women are as different in many things as night and day but what makes this wonderful in a way is that we can now learn so much from each other providing we have the spine and backbone to open ourselves us to listening and hearing what they have to say.
Our conversation centered around why men and women have a very hard times communicating sometimes and the more we dived into that discussion the more agitated and frustrated I was getting because I just couldn’t seem to make my wife understand that we are equipped with a meter that monitors our manhood and when that monitor is tripped, very little if anything ever gets past that point.  She was trying to get me to understand that women have this unquenchable desire to make sure that the person with whom they speak knows …

Time to Re-Vamp how Dispatcher handles Emergency Call

Not much is known about how dispatchers are trained to handle 911 calls but one thing is perfectly clear.  If this article is an example of how some handles those calls a complete re-vamp of the manual is sorely needed.  There have been several articles about this type of dispensing of calls but this one may just be the straw that broke the camel’s back.
The article is written by Russell Contereras and Terry Tang for the Associated Press titled “Panicked 911 caller: Dispatcher had no reason to hang up” and it reports that “a 911 caller said Wednesday she was panicked about a friend being shot but stayed as calm as possible before a New Mexico dispatcher told her to "deal with it yourself" and hung up as she sought aid.  Seventeen-year-old Esperanza Quintero told The Associated Press that she wished dispatcher Matthew Sanchez had done more to help after her friend Jaydon Chavez-Silver was shot in June while watching friends play cards inside a home. He later died.  In the reco…

Proof that Voting by Party is not the way to move this Country Forw

Talk to anyone who loves politics and you will hear them describe themselves as a Republican, Democrat or Independent.  Once that distinction is made, you will typically know which way your conversation is going to go.  You know that no matter which party affiliation that the subject of your talk is about, nothing they have done will ever be seen as good because in order to maintain honest affiliation you must defend your party above all else.  Because of this we are required not to think for ourselves but follow the lead of those who are supposed to know more and better.  We are not required to hold them accountable for any misdeeds because we are first and foremost party first, country last.  That being the case, to whom are we beholding to then, certainly not ourselves because our decisions are being made by group than by individual.  It’s time for a change.
Not all politicians should be painted by the same brush.  Many have made campaign promises and once in office delivered upon t…

Why mention of the Holocaust should be offensive to everyone

The media is all ablaze by the recent comments of Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee invoking the Holocaust but anyone even closely watching this fallacy called politics knows exactly why he did so.  The frightening part is how many have come to accept voices such as this and how some have even chosen to adopt Mr. Huckabee’s position.  Makes you wonder why so many are willing to say and do whatever to win even if it means defaming and belittling their own principals.  Mr. Huckabee is supposed to be preacher and to see him cast disparage on the plight of another human being has to make any real Christian wonder to whom he truly does serve.  Jesus was murdered by the very people he asked his father to forgive and at no time did he ever try and use the pain and suffering of another to elevate himself so whom should we take a lesson from?  Mike Huckabee, Donald Trump and others like them or God’s only son?  Make up your mind America because you truly cannot serve two masters.  Oh and whil…

Racism like Beauty is in the Eye of the Beholder

I have struggled to try and understand this elusive and temperamental word called “racism” for quite some time and just when I thought I had a handle on it, something else would happen to destroy just about every point I used to connect with that understanding.  Every point except one which is why I strongly believe now that racism is not a condition, disease, result or reasoning.  I now believe that racism is an excuse, convenient for some while inconvenient for others, but an excuse none the less.  An excuse to dismiss or define actions or non-actions of others so that the person doing the defining can wrap their minds around the conversation and move on to yet another subject, issue or matter.  I finally reached this conclusion from the below mentioned article just discovered.
The article I refer to is titled “Texas Teacher Says She’s ‘Sick’ of Black People ‘Causing Trouble,’ Called for State-Sponsored Segregation” written by Goldie Taylor for Blue Nation Review.  The article detail…

The Inequality of Domestic Violence-Larry’s Voice

Some time ago, I penned an article titled “Police Brutality is not something you already have it is cultivated and taught” (you can find it here: http://copwatchnews.com/exclusive/police-brutality-is-not-something-you-already-have-it-is-cultivated-and-taught-2/).  In that article I included a portion of a story I read involving Officer Larry Bushart attempting to show how the failure of supervisors and managers of our police departments can result in good cops going bad and making bad decisions without first considering the ramifications that comes with the honor of wearing the badge.  I was contacted by Mr. Bushart with an explanation of his situation and even though we disagreed about whether his divorce and the circumstances around it were included in this article, I did come to realize that both his and my own personal experience was quite similar.  I then took up his call to pen this article and I share all this with you in hopes that you gleam from it that even though you may co…

Quantity over Quality is proving to be really bad business

We all must recall Henry Ford’s idea about making automobiles.  It centered around making them affordable for the masses and making them able to withstand the test of time.  Henry Ford was more concerned about the quality of a Ford than the number of Fords on the road.  He also believed that looking out for the workers who were the primary reason his vehicles were quality was also the true mark of success.  Today Ford Motor Company is still one of the top three automotive manufactures but today’s Ford is nothing close to keeping the vision of Henry Ford.
We all must recall, the Dodge Brothers who left the Ford Company and embarked upon creating a top brand of automobile all their own.  They kept the love of employees that was learned from Henry Ford and they kept the quality of making fine automobiles.  Today Dodge and it’s merger with Chrysler now Jeep and Fiat is also one of the top three automotive manufactures but like Ford, the love of quality has been replaced by the need for qua…

What ever happened to Responsible Journalism

According to an article written by Ben Dimiero for Media Matters titled “NY Times Issues Second Major Correction To Botched Report On Clinton's Emails” it is reported that “this morning, the New York Times issued a second substantial correction to its anonymously-sourced report that originally hyped a potential Department of Justice investigation into former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's use of personal email. The paper has now removed the claim -- which appeared in both the article's headline and first sentence -- that two inspectors general were seeking a "criminal" investigation into the handling of Clinton's emails. The paper has not addressed numerous lingering questions about both the sourcing and vetting of its report, with their corrections instead blaming the errors on "information from senior government officials" who remain anonymous. Times public editor Margaret Sullivan indicated on Twitter that she plans to weigh in on the story…

Illinois Balanced Budget Fight effects all except lawmakers

According to an article titled “Illinois Politicians to receive pay raises despite Rauner Efforts” as reported “failing to pass a balanced budget is of little consequence to the state’s political class. As Illinois enters its third week without a state budget, House Speaker Mike Madigan and other members of the Illinois General Assembly will begin receiving pay raises Gov. Bruce Rauner has attempted to block.  The governor made note of this in a July 21 press conference. Lawmaker salaries are set to rise between $1,300 and $1,900.  The General Assembly passed Senate Bill 1354 – a budget bill – on June 26. One week later, on July 1, the governor issued an amendatory veto that would OK the budget bill if the General Assembly accepted additional language that would prohibit lawmakers from receiving pay raises based on cost-of-living adjustments, as well as increases to their per diem payments for when they are in session.  So why are lawmakers receiving paychecks without passing a budget…

How and where to find that perfect mate

Every human being in this world searches for one thing and one thing only that is that perfect mate.  Life’s trials and tribulations are stacked full of those relationships that started out great but soon sputtered out.  It is full of those untaken chances at love and those times when what you thought was truly meant to be was not.  So we continue to search and only those we feel are more blessed than we are find what they say is the only one for them, but truth be told, those who are appears most happy together are those who are not afraid of taking that next steps and doing the things that is necessary to find that all elusive happiness we all crave.
There are a few things you may have heard but never put into practice or gave up on far too early in the relationship.  There are a few things that you need to know or be reminded of.  One of the most important is that perfect mate does not come in a pre-packaged container and have all of the ingredients you need to be perfect.  They com…

How this blessing thing really works

I was strolling through Facebook when I came upon this post and it started me to thinking that maybe the reason so many of us are lost as Christians is because of what I took from this very post and so many others like them.  We may be a little confused and since very few so-called experts even take the time to address this subject, we stay ignorant and as long as that is the case we become easy targets for evil and its minions.  Time to turn the tables.
The post goes something like this.  “A young man who wanted to marry his wife was discouraged not to marry her because his family members didn't like her but the man stood on his decision and said, “God told me she's my destiny helper and that she is my wife." so he went ahead and married her against his family's will. Four months after their marriage, he lost his job and his family members started laughing at him but then, the man always held her hands and said, "I'm not giving up on you, no matter what peopl…

I am who I make myself out to be

I used to think that we are the sum total of our experiences and our reactions to them but I am beginning to see that we are simply the sum total of our reactions.  I think this now because the same experience can happen to millions of people and none of them turn out to be exactly alike even if many of their reaction were the same.  Each of us take away from any experience what we choose to learn from that encounter and because only that single solitary individual can choose what lesson that they wish to heed, they are in complete and total control.
Car accidents happen each and every day and those involved come away from it with a change in their prospective, way of life or perception of what is important.  Many may repeat the same saying about importance but that does not by no stretch of the imagination make that the number one lesson learned.  Some will never drive again, some seek comfort in a bottle or drugs, while others get right back upon that horse.  None of these choices ma…

If 2 citizens were fired for displaying the Confederate Flag, our nation is in trouble.

If this is true and these two citizens were let go because they refused to remove the Confederate Flag symbol from their own personal property, this nation has allowed it’s citizens to violate the very principal that so many pride themselves on when bragging about this country.  God Almighty, knew that attempting to control the minds of men was a lost cause which is why he gave us the authority to decide for ourselves.  He told us that we are in control of our actions, non-actions and lives so that on judgment day, we will not have anyone else to blame for the way we decided to live that life.  I can understand removal of the Confederate Flag from public buildings but when you begin to think that you own another person to the point where you can control and make them remove any symbol from their own private property, you have gone too far.
The article titled, “2 In Alabama Say They Got Fired For Driving With Confederate Flag” written by Jackie Salo for International Business Times says…

The Biggest Lie ever told

When it comes to the old saying that there is “more than one way to skin a cat”, it may be truer than we think.  Let us examine why this could be so and while we accomplish this finally understand why the differences between right and wrong has changed so much and so quickly.

In this world of billions of people there are those who claim that there is only one right way to do anything but if we patiently take a look at history, we may be surprised to learn that there has always been and will always be another right way.  It may be as simple as what is right for one may not be right for another so does that mean that the one who accomplished their goals using the method was wrong because that same avenue did not open up for you or could it be as simple as the avenue they attempted was set for them and only them while you must now use a little bit of what they did, add in something a little different for yourself in order to discover what will work for you?  If this is the case then would…

Rhetoric of KKK now proven false

With the help of one action, the years of rhetoric about the need for the existence of a world-rounded hate group may have just been erased.  This article titled “See the Moving Photo of a Black Cop Helping a Man at KKK Rally” by Ryan Teague Beck for the Associated Press reports that “Police officer Leroy Smith helps a man wearing National Socialist Movement attire up the stairs during a rally on July 18, 2015, in Columbia, S.C.  The most memorable image of a Ku Klux Klan rally in South Carolina Saturday undercut the group’s mission.  When the North Carolina-based Loyal White Knights of the Ku Klux Klan rallied at the steps of the South Carolina statehouse to protest the removal of the Confederate flag, one older protester was affected by the heat.  A photographer captured what happened next: Police Officer Leroy Smith, who is black, helped the protester, who was wearing a National Socialist movement T-shirt, up the stairs and out of the heat.”

We all are aware of how the rhetoric has …

Fired Toll Collector

I have heard of some selfish actions taken by those whom are supposed to be in a position where their actions can ultimately change the course of human events but this one takes the cake.  It is an article titled “Beloved Toll Collector Says He Was Fired For Paying Someone's Toll”  it appears to have been written by Ed Mazza for the Huffington Post and it states “A Florida community is rallying around a local toll collector, saying that he was fired unjustly for paying someone else's toll. Vladislav "Sam" Samsonov had been collecting the toll at the Gasparilla Island Bridge, which takes motorists into Boca Grande, near Fort Myers, for nearly 30 years. He's known to have treats on hand for dogs, and lollipops for the kids. But it all came to end when he was fired last week after accidentally undercharging a driver and paying the difference out of his own pocket. "He broke the rules by putting $5.50 into the cash register from his pocket after he realized he m…

Desecration of the Flag will get you Famous disrespecting cops will get you killed

Never ceases to amaze me how out of one side of your neck, you can say you love and support the troops while out of the other side you are desecrating the very banner all American troops fight and even die under.  Many say that this is a form of and a right to speak freely but we all know it is and never will be the proper form of protest so many wishes us to believe.  This article titled “Hundreds attend rally at Valdosta State University” taken from wbatv.com Tells us “tensions are building on the campus of Valdosta State University after a flag protest.  Channel 2's Matt Belanger traveled to Valdosta where thousands of her supporters gathered Friday some are calling the woman a hero. Belanger spoke to students who said they support what protesters did Friday, but they weren't happy VSU cancelled classes as a national debate over treatment of the American flag came to the South Georgia city. "I just hate to see that kind of hatred in anyone," said Carolyn Smith. &qu…

Donald Trump claims to be fearless contradicted by his beefing up of Security

If the rumor of what seemed to be a death threat to Donald Trump by Joaquin Guzman aka El Chapo is true then the statement made by Mr. Trump of not worrying about himself and being more concerned about America was undermined by the information found in this article titled “Donald Trump beefs up security after El Chapo death threat” by Geoff Earle, Jamie Schram and Danika Fears for the New York Post.  Either Mr. Trump is the fearless man he claimed to be or he is about as weak of an individual as expected by so many.  Mr. Trump may have just let me mouth write a check, that his butt cannot cash which may be a good thing for some but it could ultimately be quite serve for all Hispanics.
The article reports that “As new photos revealed how billionaire cartel boss Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman made his great escape from prison, Donald Trump beefed up his security detail in response to a threat the fugitive drug lord purportedly tweeted.  “We have officials all over the place, including right o…

Wall Street’s Iron Grip and the Banking Industry Stranglehold is China’s gain and America’s loss

Can anyone remember how some politicians made it a point to bad-mouth China about how they manipulate their currency and the news media going crazy with stories about how China is taking over this country?  How about those who do not have to try very hard to find a microphone, whining about how slow this economy is growing or those who screamed about how Corporate America is hiding money overseas and sending our jobs over there as well?  Well it appears that Wall Street is not the only ones guilty of selling out this country for tax breaks, oil revenues or other personal considerations according to this article titled “Mayor, Gorman head to China to raise $25M for Rockford hotel” by Brian Leaf for the Rockford Register Star, our own mayor is using money from the city to travel to China to sell them a piece of Rockford.
The article reports that “Gary Gorman and Larry Morrissey are Shanghai-bound Wednesday to raise $25 million for Gorman & Company's $67 million plan to turn the A…

Every Marine should be for those who want the title to earn it Male or Female

An article titled “Marine Commander’s Firing Stirs Debate on Integration of Women in Corps” written by Dave Philipps for the New York Times was emailed to me for my thoughts on the subject.  After reading it, I gained more than just a thought, I gained a prospective.
The article reported that “when Lt. Col. Kate Germano took command of the Marine Corps’ all-women boot camp, the failure rate of female recruits at the rifle range was about three times higher than that of their male counterparts, and she said there was no plan to try to improve it. “The thinking was girls can’t shoot, so why bother,” she said in an interview.  So she worked with trainers to give women better skills instruction, and soon passing rates soared, according to Marine Corps records. In June, 95 percent of women passed initial rifle qualification, equaling the rate for men. Colonel Germano made similar gains in strength tests and retention — though scores on written tests went down — and began advocating better t…

Why do Americans toss out their God given Freedoms with the Bath Water?

If you are one of the many who think that this nation is headed to hell in a hand basket then you have also got to be willing to admit that two of the vehicles taking us there are structured politics and structured religion.  If you think that either or neither of these are true then resign yourself to remaining unaware and don’t be surprised when other things began to adopt structured politics and structured religion’s brand of Americanism.
I say this because both have been slowly erasing a freedom that we were granted so may years ago but many of us either did not wish to see it or saw it but refused to stand up to stop it.  I’m talking about a freedom that was first granted to us by God Almighty himself when he sent his only son to this planet, delivered to us a new agreement between us and him and sealed that agreement with his own blood as he died on that cross.  I am talking about a freedom that was later recalled by a few slave owners and non-slave owners who hammered out a deal…

The Confederate Flag debate will soon be the same regarding the American Flag

This may not be what you true patriots wish to hear but it does not mean someone does not need to bring it to your attention.  We see those who so support the flying of the Confederate Flag crying real tears about what they think is an ending to their heritage.  It is not but some would want nothing more than for those who truly believe in that banner to fall for this ploy and be willing to pick up arms and die again for its colors.  Too bad, things that really end only end in our hearts.  If you are truly a lover of the Confederate Flag then you should know that no matter where it flies, on Capitol Grounds, in a museum, in your front yard or attached to your vehicle, the love for that glorious banner will only die if you strike its true meaning from your heart otherwise, it shall live on as long as there are those willing to see it live forever.
For those who stand against it and call it a symbol of slavery, racism and bigotry, you are also correct but let us set the record straight. …

Did the New York Times Book Review finally grow a Conscious?

Is it just me or have we now heard the truth about these best sellers lists and how those who get on them may not doing so in the true spirit of sales?  For as long as I can remember, writers have worked very hard to get their works included not only on the New York Times Best Sellers List but the Los Angeles Times and others as well.  Many will find inventive ways to market their books and some will only consider writing a book with their intended audience in mind but nothing makes all this seem less worthy than what is found in this article written by John Prager titled “NY Times Throws Ted Cruz Off Bestseller List For Cheating, Conservatives Go Insane”.
The article says “Ted Cruz’s new book, A “Time For Truth,” has managed some impressive sales numbers since it was published on June 30, with almost 12,000 copies sold in the first week. In fact, judging purely by sales, it should have been near the top of the New York Times’ bestseller list, with more than 1,000 sales over Aziz Ansar…

How good intentions can lead to a more disastrous result

There is often no more clearer of an example of good intentions turning out to be worse than intended or expected than this article.  The sad part is the true result will probably never be felt by those who made the decision nor seemed to be accounted for by those who did.
I speak of this article titled “Judge releases 3 kids locked up for failing to meet with dad” out of Pontiac, Michigan for the Associated Press and for the life of me cannot see how this could have even been considered as a good idea in the first place.  From this article I come away thinking that intelligent thought was not a part of those involved area of thinking.  The article reports that “a judge on Friday released three siblings who have spent two weeks in juvenile detention for refusing to meet with their estranged father.  Oakland County Judge Lisa Gorcyca said she's sending the children to a summer camp, at the request of the father.”  Because of this lack of understanding of why anyone with any kind of …

The Miracle of Medicine and the Fleecing of its Users

Leave it to the media to title an article but never present the other side of the coin.  What’s the other side of the coin you ask?  Just how much is enough for the price of a human liver and just how many people must die before the cost and idea of making millions are replaced by the desire to do good?  The article is written by Ricardo Alonso-Zaldivar and it is titled “$1,000-per-pill drug overtaken by pricier successor” for the Associated Press.  In the article it details a whole host of things like “the $1,000 pill for a liver-wasting viral infection that made headlines last year is no longer the favorite of patients and doctors.  The new leading pill for hepatitis C is more expensive, and the number of patients seeking a cure has surged.  Sovaldi, last year's wonder drug, has been pushed aside by a successor called Harvoni, made by the same company. The sticker price for Harvoni is $1,350 a pill.”  Noticed that the same company improved their product and felt the urge that th…

Biker cries foul Waco shooting and lawyer seeing no way out

We are all entitled to our day in court and have the right to present our case as to why we are not guilty of what we are charged with but to begin so early to attempt to discredit those who oppose you leaves me to wonder why.  Could it be because you know that they have the facts on their side and the results of a verdict from any kind of jury would lead to you being found guilty or is it because privileges have been extended to you that others can only dream about?
The article is called “Lawsuit alleges Waco biker grand jury conflict of interest” written by Emily Schmall for the Associated Press and it reports that “a biker arrested after a deadly shootout involving bikers and police in Waco, Texas, argued Friday that it's a conflict of interest for a policeman to preside over the grand jury that may hear his case.  Matthew Clendennen, who sued after he was one of 177 bikers arrested following the shootout, alleged in a court filing that James Head's presence as foreman of th…
