Contraception Debate is not a War on Religion but strictly a Money Thing

Regardless of how you frame your stance on this debate, one thing is clear.  No one will be happy with the outcome whether there is a compromise or not.

For some it’s about giving all women the same rights and freedom as every other woman when it comes to protecting their health.  For some it’s about being forced to do something that goes against their teachings and their religious freedom and for some it’s about Catholics objection to the co-pay of providing contraception coverage.  For the rest of us it’s one of the best arguments for a single-payer health system which allows businesses to keep that money and re-invest it back into their business or hire more workers.  Either of these would work as a wedge to keep us from finding the correct balance as long as we phrase it as “us against them” so bottom line, no compromise will frankly be many calling card.

I to find myself falling into that category some times and can be as stubborn as anyone else.  I have always been bothered by this administration willingness to compromise, it’s only after I realize that being a President of all the People means that there must be shared sacrifice in every decision we make.  As a leader you can ill afford to have a stance of “my way or the highway” because you are supposed to represent more than just yourself or your friends.  It may work if you owned your own business but who owns this nation except its citizens.  We do not have to always “go along” but we must begin to make a more serious effort to “get along.”  I do not have a problem with compromise but what does bother me more than most is the hypocrisy.

To say that this contraception debate is all about a war of religion is not only disingenuous but moreover a big lie.  It’s strictly about money.  Listen very closely too many who begin their claim of an assault on religion and watch closely where they end up at.  They always speak about the co-pay or the cost.  Only after being pushed on the subject does it revert back to religious rights.  Lawrence O’ Donnell had a guest on with Michelle Goldberg from The Daily Beast and she mentioned that this rule would stop providers from doing what many believed Jesus called them to do.  This statement really started my blood to boiling because God calls us to service number one and number two, if you are a real believer no mortal will prevent you from doing what you were called to do.  There have already been exemptions made for religious organization but if you are in the business of providing health services and you hire people to work for you, you cease being a religious organization regardless of your affiliation and become an employer.  There are rules and regulations governing businesses and no business should be exempt for adhering to those rules.

This is all about money and looking at women as a segment of society that needs help to determine what is right for them.  On C-Span there was a group of 4 people on a stage at the Catholic Information Center speaking on this subject.  It was more political than it was informational because there was no real representative for the other side of the argument.  Did I mention that not one of those on that stage was a woman?  How under God’s blue sky can any man tell anyone what a woman want or need?  It’s all about money because these religious affiliated entities charge for their services.  These services are not free and if you want to charge for your services then you have to follow the same rules as all others who are allowed to charge.  No one or no business should be above the law or exempted from following the same rules as any other business.  Politicians speak so highly about an even playing field for business but when it comes to a business which is affiliated with a religious organization, I guess that rule should not apply.  When it comes to the Catholic organization, need I remind you that it was this religion that crucified Jesus, this religion that violates Matthew by requiring believers to call another Father, did not rise up in anger as they have now over the abuse handed down by this religion and still cannot explain the teachings of celibacy or why they have been allowed to create their own country within a country.

It’s all about money because if it really was about religious freedom, there would be no cost for the services that they are “called upon” to provide.  I do not recall Jesus ever charging for the services he rendered.
