When a Dream becomes so much more than just Reality

 

Adam Dixon had a dream, he dreamed of one day creating a space for at risk youth and adults that would go beyond the typical programs and offer something that no other has ever. He did not expect that this dream would materialize into far much more than that. He created The Adam Dixon Perseverance Foundation in 2014 after 3 year professional football career playing arena football and brief stints in the Canadian Football League. He recognized the immense and immediate need for this kind of organization providing not only sensible solutions but educational scholarships, mentorship, and leadership development. He was acutely aware that there were many others at-risk youth and adults programs out there but there were still a very large part of what was needed to guarantee the success of the students missing. He made it his heavenly mission to not only discover what they were but solve those issues.

 

It is not clearly known how this happened but Mr. Dixon really began to gain traction toward his goal of providing a more well-rounded experience for his students when he connected with a former American football safety in the National Football League for the Los Angeles/St. Louis Rams and Washington Redskins. Mr. Toby Wright played college ball for the University of Nebraska and was drafted in the second round of the 1994 NFL Draft. They found themselves to be kindred spirits because they both hailed the Phoenix/Mesa, Arizona area. He attended Dobson High School in Mesa, Arizona but what makes this collection of souls so very interesting and great is both these titans of ingenuity have a unquenchable desire to give back. They both speak of being blessed to have played their favorite sport but the biggest blessing is the one that they are giving to these kids.

 

Mr. Dixon did not stop there, he further aligned himself with a partner in the business by the name of Ms. C.Joy Thomas. Ms. Thomas is a giant in not only the industry of psychology but in the arts of entertainment as well. Her resume and accomplishments are nothing short of extraordinary and to see how well she relates to her clients/patients is nothing short of awe-inspiring. She has been using her Master of Science Degree to work with at-risk children but also to provide guidance and directions to those who suffers with substance abuse. Her calm demeanor quickly places her contacts in a state of calm and her approach to them is full of empathy, sensitivity and compassion that is unmatched and second to none.

 

These masters of their domains have and continue to amass a supporting cast around them who share their love for giving back to their community and providing their kids with a truly worthwhile and life-changing environment to prove that they are never defective, that they are never broken, that they are never alone and that they are always loved. Because of their own personal stories of trial and tribulations, they are very much aware that having these kids beleive that they are worthy, special and important is the first step to changing their mind-set of self-esteem and their life trajectories. This organization proves this to them and each kid is given an opportunity to believe again, to have faith again and to become the best version of themselves. To that end, Mr. Dixon has enlisted the aid of another giant in the sports world by connecting with Mr. Lou Frazier.

 

Mr. Frazier played Major League Baseball for the Montreal Expos, Texas Rangers and the Chicago White Sox. Because of his time with the Boston Red Sox, Sweet Lou proudly displays is two World Series Championship rings at his Baseball Facility in Chandler, Arizona. His 14 years in the Major Leagues not only greatly benefit those want-ta-be sluggers and baseball lovers who fequent his facility but these same kids that Mr. Dixon and his crew has adopted.
