Has the GOP embraced Grover Norquist over Abraham Lincoln and Ronald Reagan?

Grover Norquist insisted that all who dons the title Republican prove their loyalty to the party by signing a pledge not to ever raise taxes for any reason and they are sticking to it even at the risk of sacrificing those that they took an oath to serve.  What do you do with a party or person who promise one thing but delivers another?

So many Americans could use the power that they loaned to those in Washington to help with the multitude of issues that they are facing.  Their chooses are quite simple, deal with the day to day hurdles or support division between the parties.  Every poll tells you what that decision was yet nothing seems to work to get those sitting tightly on their hands to get up and get into the game.  I guess it’s plain to see when you look at those facing re-election as to the ones who might be forced to move.

It has not gone without notice, that many of those who are dead-set against making any movement toward job creation are those who literally have no horse in the race.  Mr. Norquist is probably financially set so he does not have to fear losing his home or job.  He is probably able to properly feed his family and provide for their needs while many of those that he seems to dismiss are struggling to be able to look their kids in the eyes.

You hear so many speak about Ronald Reagan but none who truly follow his lead.  He stood tall for conservative values unless those values were of detriment to the majority.  There is nothing wrong with compromising on your values if they will benefit the nations as a whole.  The sad part is that so many are looking for who is right and who is wrong instead of what is just and unjust.  It is not wrong to stand up for your values but it is unjust to have the majority suffer because of that stance.  If the world truly did revolve around you, then it would make sense to ensure that your will be done in all things but if you exist as a piece of this neatly woven fabric it should be clear that in order for one to thrive we all must survive.
