Democrats Folly

Move over Jon Stewart, there’s another show which should soon come to Comedy Central and it is titled “Democrats Folly”.  It’s a story about Progressive, Liberal and Moderate Democrats who travel the country addressing the same problems that’s been plaguing the African-American, Hispanic, Middle Class, seniors and Veteran Communities for years.

This story begins in 2009, where all hopes were laid at the feet of one man and each time this one man did not perform as many wanted him to, these democrats would gather together and rant about his inability to fix their problems.  Some will demand that he become as stubborn as his opposition and fight, fight, fight.  They will insist that he stand his ground and never compromise because that’s what they would do.  Of course none of them are under the same intense pressure that this one man is nor are they privy to all of the information and head winds he face each day from several different directions at the same time, yet they know exactly what is needed to fix their problems.

The rub, many of these same people who now sit back and say what they do not like about what this one man is not doing have all been elected to fix these same issues.  Some have been in office long before this one man ever thought about coming to Washington as a Senator.  Every election cycle they get together and promise to make things better, only to forget that promise one day after being re-elected.  They find other things to blame their inability to remedy these problems like not enough of them in congress or the other side not playing nice and even more, this one man.  These do-gooders have been in office long enough and have had the majority enough times to have made some inroads but these same communities still remain stagnant after all this time.

I applaud those who happen to come up with a solution to our problems.  People like Chris Matthews, Rachel Maddow and Lawrence O’Donnell, just to name a few.  My only issue with the ideas that they or their staffs come up with are mostly directed at this one man and a demand is made over the airwaves that he should take their advice and make this happen.  Why I have a problem with that is simple.  He is not the only one who could make this happen.  If memory serves, the Legislative Branch is the one who make the laws so maybe these problem-solvers should demand action from their members in congress, provided they can put down the microphone long enough to pick up a pen.

It is time for all those who are quick to tell others exactly what this one man is not doing to begin showing him how it should be done.  If you are wise enough to see another’s faults, you should be wise enough to demonstrate how they can be rectified.  That’s just my thought and I could be wrong or maybe pushing for a guest appearance spot.
