Things that make you scratch your head

Is it just me or has others noticed that quite a few military members are choosing to skip out of the military using the birther issue?  Just ran into this article by Josh Funk of the Associated Press titled Air Force discharging sergeant who doubts Obama where he reports that “the Air Force said Wednesday it is discharging a hero of the so-called birther movement who refused to report to duty in Germany for a few days earlier this month because he doubts President Barack Obama's citizenship. Staff Sgt. Daryn Moran expects to be discharged within the next week. Although the 41-year-old Nebraska man refused to report to duty and had called for Obama's arrest in statements on websites, several other things contributed to his discharge, including his opposition to Obama's decision to allow gays to serve openly in the military.”

It was reported that Mr. Moran obtained his information through the internet and of course we all are very much aware that anything found on the internet is completely true.  As a former U.S. Marine, I am kind of disappointed hearing this because many of us thought that several of those in the oval office did not belong there but I did not hear about such a fury of discharges then.  Is it really about their disdain for someone they think is not a citizen getting the office or could it be more about skin color or making the ultimate sacrifice for your country.  I guess we will never know because the only ones who could really tell us probably will never admit if it was any one of the last listed.

Either way we all should be grateful for his service and the service of those who decided to skip for other reasons.  I feel sadness only because within the oath that I took when joining the Armed Forces, were the words of duty and honor.  Duty to your country and honor to your word.  You give your word to serve the length of your contract but then that’s just me.

The Determination of History to Repeat Itself is Due to our Cowardice to Stop It
