GOP Embraces the “Etch-A-Sketch” Strategy

When Eric Fehrnstrom first mentioned Mitt Romney and the Etch-A-Sketch, many was surprised and thought it was nothing more than just a mistake.   It appears that it was more than a mistake and now is a GOP strategy.

When Fehrnstrom first made the comment, even those running against Mitt Romney for the Republican Party nominee had some fun with it.  Late Night comedy and others could not believe their luck and some commentators still can not believe that these words came from his mouth but what’s more astonishing is how so many others are following this strategy.

On Jansing & Co was Juleanna Glover who was labeled as a GOP Strategist.  She made it a point to insist that Mitt Romney was correct in his critics of President Obama concerning the blind Chinese Activist Chen Guangcheng.  Some thought the rush to judgment by Romney was typical for a “wanta-be” leader who seeks to try and find anyway to gain support from voters.  Others, like Ms. Glover, thought it was a good idea to way in and take a stand against this administration.  When allowed to state her case she made reference to the Obama Administration allowing “threatening messages toward his family to reach him at the embassy” While this may sound good at the start, one thing that keeps eating away at me is whether Ms. Glover is now advocating embassy officials pre-screening   mail of those seeking asylum in order to insure that no bad news reaches them?  She further stepped into it when she said that Mitt Romney would have made the “decision right the first time and not have to mop things up”  which also begs the question that if Mitt Romney makes the right decision the first time, why does he flip and flop so often?

Then comes Mr. Fehrnstrom again while speaking about Mitt Romney failure to defend his choice of National Security spokesman saying that he did stand firm against the far right side of his party when “he spoke at the Value Voter’s Summit” making it should like he was speaking to negative language about sexual orientation.  What’s strange about this is some have him standing his ground against the far right but only to defend his religion and not the sexual orientation of his campaign personnel.

What bothers me more than anything else about this is just how stupid do they think voters are?    I wonder when those standing with Romney will finally begin to demand truth and not spin.  I wonder when they are going to tell him to stop trying to compare himself to Barack Obama and just be true to himself.  Mitt Romney may not know how it feels to be poor or have your children look to you when they are hungry but there is no food, he could bring in others who may have some idea.  You would think that if it really is their idea to get Mitt Romney elected, they would learn that the Tea party vote will not do it in a presidential election because they can stop some from voting but they can never stop them all.
