Michelle Bachmann’s decision to become a Swiss Citizen is a good and bad thing

Reports are abounding that “Michele Bachmann is now a Swiss citizen” and to some it creates a confusing dilemma.  For me, it’s a question of two ideas.  Idea one is that she should be applauded for tackling this as a family.  We hear that the idea was not hers but a wish of “some of her children”.  For that reason, I think she should be given credit.

Idea two is the need she now feels to prepare for her future which may not be here in the United States.  Her dream of being one of the most powerful women in the world may only be realized in Switzerland and getting her citizenship now should pave the way.  This idea sounds more viable because she was eligible to do this so long ago in 1978 but it takes 34 years before the decision was made.  This may also be evident in case she can not retain her seat in Congress.

If she does decide to move to Switzerland, she may set the trend and make it okay for those who have threatening leaving this country since the inauguration of our first African-American president, to pack up and go.
