Mourdock defeat of Lugar in Indiana presents an opportunity for Democrats and Independents

Anyone who follows politics but may not be a fanatic should know Senator Dick Lugar and how he was never afraid to compromise for the betterment of this nation.  He had the letter “R” beside his name but he was not as divisive as all those who now have that title.  Talking about someone who stuck to his principals but could find way to move this nation forward without compromising those principals, there was none better than he.

All this changed when Richard Mourdock plainly spelled out that his and those who backed him idea for bi-partisanship means Democrats coming to their view.  Image the entire Federal Government working toward voters’ depression, revoking women’s rights, dismantling the Department of Education and so many other scary ideas.  We will no longer have a government for and by the people but a government vying for the needs and wants of their largest money donors.

The saving grace is that the Republican/Tea party may have really over stepped their bounds.  While the Tea Party may have a strangle hold on one party, it has miscalculated the motivation of voters who see this country slipping into another 2010.  Motivated voters will not be sitting home as they did during the 2010 election and after the true numbers are in, the Tea Party may just finally see how strong they really are.  I suspect that after the 2012 election, minus the voter depression laws already imposed, the numbers will be huge.
