GOP may have just found their smoking gun

For years now, the GOP has been trying all kinds of things to trap President Obama and make something stick to him.  Much of what they tried in the past all turned out to be more fluff than substance but this time they just may have something.  Many who just can’t stand this man have been talking impeachment even though, being lawyers themselves, they knew that there was no grounds for it.

According to an article titled “GOP report: Administration misled Congress on Bergdahl swap” written Deb Riechmann for the Associated Press.   It details a 98 page report which charges that the Obama Administration violated the law by not giving Congress a 30 day notice about the transferring of five Taliban detainees in exchange for Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl.  It reports “ House Republicans are claiming in a new report that the Obama administration misled Congress about the effort to release five Taliban detainees at Guantanamo Bay for U.S. Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl, who was held captive by the militant group for nearly five years.  Republicans on the House Armed Services Committee released a 98-page report Wednesday on its inquiry into the case of the so-called Taliban Five after lawmakers expressed outrage that the Obama administration did not give Congress a 30-day notice about transferring the detainees to Qatar, as required by law. The report also provided behind-the-scenes details about the Defense Department's work with the Qataris, who played the middleman in negotiating the swap with the Taliban.  The five Taliban leaders, held at the military prison in Cuba, were informed that they were being released two days before the administration told Congress, the report said. They were put on a plane bound for Doha, Qatar on May 31, 2014, less than three hours after Bergdahl was released into U.S. custody.  The report from House Republicans reiterated lawmakers' complaint and a General Accounting Office finding that the transfer violated the National Defense Authorization Act and other laws. It said the Pentagon's own Office of Detainee Policy was kept out of the loop about the prospective exchange.”

Well there you go GOP, your elusive “smoking gun”, now you can run on this and try to convince more voters of how important it is that your side wins even more seats and even the White House because of this.  Notwithstanding, even though you control both houses of congress and have voted on nothing that makes life better for those who voted for you.  Even though you have done nothing to create those jobs many of you campaigned on.  But the question shall remain what exactly you are attempting to stand on using this as your proof that this administration has committed a more damaging act than any other besides the Nixon Administration.  I think we all could agree that “if the Defense Department did not tell Congress 30 days before the transfer which is as required by law that is wrong but is it worth further division of a nation that all is watching and many are gaining strength from all this bickering.
