South Carolina Republican Gov. just set a new standard for the GOP and all of

Since 2009, it has been a comedy of errors on the behalf of the GOP when it came to choosing who would give the Republican response to the White House State of the Union Address that was until a group of, probably men, made the right choice and chose South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley.  Now please don’t get it twisted, there are a lot of things I could easily disagree with the GOP on but when you speak frankly about the current situation our nation faces and take full blame for the part you played in making things as they are, you will find me standing right up front to support that effort.  Gov Nikki Haley knocked it out of the park with her response to the State of the Union Address, maybe not in all she said but what she did say was more truth than anyone has ever heard coming from the GOP in years.

According to an article titled “Haley warns against following ‘angriest voices’ in GOP response” written by Andrew Rafferty but originally appearing on NBCNews.com, it is reported she “warned against following “the siren call of the angriest voices” and said anyone who respects America’s laws and traditions should be welcome in the country during the Republican response to President Barack Obama’s State of the Union address Tuesday.  “During anxious times, it can be tempting to follow the siren call of the angriest voices. We must resist that temptation,” Haley said. “No one who is willing to work hard, abide by our laws, and love our traditions should ever feel unwelcome in this country.”  Haley, the daughter of Indian immigrants, said the U.S. must welcome “properly vetted legal immigrants, regardless of their race or religion. Just like we have for centuries.”  Haley said “there’s a tendency to falsely equate noise with results” and that “often, the best thing we can do is turn down the volume.”

No one with any glimmer of honesty can dismiss what she said and though I might disagree with her in many other instances like a “failing economy”, I can’t truly fully disagree with her when she mentioned “facing the most dangerous terrorist threat since Sept 11, 2001 and chaotic unrest in many of our cities”.  I think she hit the nail right on the head with these comments but the comments that will forever make me feel like she has the best chance to pull other party votes if she ever seek the White House is when she said “We as Republicans need to own that truth. We need to recognize our contributions to the erosion of the public trust in America’s leadership. We need to accept that we’ve played a role in how and why our government is broken,” Haley said. “And then we need to fix it.” No one party, one person or a group of billionaires are going to fix America’s issues.  It is going to take each and every one of us, doing our small part in order to make this show go and to hear a member of the GOP stand up, step up and say what we all know is true is certainly breath-taking.

Yes, America, we have just been schooled by a Republican Governor but she has now risen above a label, with the response to the State of the Union that South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley just gave, she has elevated herself to someone who looks pretty darn good in the White House for more than just GOP voters because in the end when the cameras are off and the spotlight goes dim, the way she stood tall is the best example all of America can hope for and present to other countries in the world.
