Another Republican Presidential Nominee bites the dust, or does he

This week should give anyone who is watching a great look into how hypocritical the far right really is and those representing the Tea Party in the Republican Party.  Newt Gingrich stepped all in it when he spoke the truth about Paul Ryan’s budget and how it will radically change Medicare and Medicaid as we know it.  The flood gates opened and he is now still trying to find the sides before he gets swept up by the wave of criticism coming from his party.  We will learn about them by the way Rick Santorum is treated by these same individuals and groups.

According to an article by the Associated Press titled Santorum: McCain doesn't understand interrogation, “former Sen. Rick Santorum said today that Sen. John McCain, who spent 5 1/2 years enduring brutal treatment at the hands of his North Vietnamese captors, doesn't know how effective waterboarding and other harsh interrogation techniques can be.”  He told this lie trying to defend torture as a part of the American Justice System.   Santorum dug the hole even deeper by being quoted as saying “he (McCain) doesn't understand how enhanced interrogation works.”

Now, from where I stand if there was a choice between heeding the advice of Santorum or McCain on torture, it would be a no-brainer for me and McCain would win hands down.  Having endured what he has with the history that we know about McCain, while he was being held and possibly tortured himself, Santorum was still in school or maybe just a gleam in his father’s eye at the time.  Santorum should not have even tried to question McCain’s take on it because, as far as I am concerned, when it comes to this type of knowledge, Santorum is operating on no creditability at all.

What this shall tell us about the new Republican Tea Party is if they are true believers in what they claim.  They claim to seek the truth and stand on the side of right.  To really expect them to stand with McCain would be a stretch, in my opinion, because McCain is not their “Golden Child” as Paul Ryan seems to be.  This party has abandoned McCain numerous times before and I do not expect they would stand with him now, but wouldn’t it be nice if they did?
