Paul Ryan’s definition of Leadership

David Gregory made news on Meet the Press but I don’t think he or anyone else heard it.  He asked Paul Ryan a question and got one of the best sound bites any oppose of Ryan could ever dream about using when running for his seat.  Paul Ryan explained in detail his definition of leadership and that definition could bury him.

Mr. Ryan stated that he did not need a poll to tell him what his policies should be.  He said leaders lead and that’s what they are doing in the House.  He was tapped as the economy guru for the Republican Party and all swore to support any idea that he envisioned on that subject.  He offered his plan and by now, we all know what that is but when it came up for a vote, two Republicans realized that it was radical while another two stepped away because they thought it was not radical enough.  That’s not leadership nor is it courageous.  Leadership is facing your problems head on and looking for solutions which affect all the same while minimizing the results.  Mr. Ryan addressed Medicare and Medicaid but he did not address the Bush tax cuts, military spending or the giant oil company’s subsidies.

He placed the complete weight of this recovery squarely on the backs of the middle class, seniors, veterans and the poor but spared big business.  If this is leadership, no wonder this country has been going downhill for the last eight years.   He was willing to reduce government revenue while voting to help increase spending three plus years ago but now has decided that this is the time to play tough on spending.  I guess after you have helped your party raid the surplus and loot the nation, its now time to flip-flop.

Leadership is often about what you don’t do as opposed to what you do.  He showed great leadership by standing quietly while the surplus was gobbled up and lack of leadership because the fix was not shared with everyone instead of a selected few.  He said on Meet the Press that his party was the only ones that have proposed anything but what about the budget proposed by the House Democrats or does that not count?   Leadership is saying what you mean and meaning what you say, the campaigns was about jobs and not one bill proposed by those recently elected has anything close to that unless you count the numerous jobs created by the new “Abortion Police” which will be needed to impose themselves into the lives of every woman and girl.  I guess this is not as important as Donald Trump debating China for the mainstream media because no one is talking about it.
