The ineptitude of the Republican Party is brought to you by the Republican Party

When I was growing up in a small town in Tennessee, we used to be warned all the time about putting the cart before the horse.  Now as a child, I would envision a cart in front of the horse and wondered why anyone would do that especially if they were looking to have the horse pull the wagon.  The GOP appears to be guilty of this very thing.

Associated Press’ David Espo penned an article titled Medicare overhaul proposal causing GOP stress sighting “With Congress just back from a week's vacation, House Majority Leader Eric Cantor, R-Va., indicated Monday that Republicans want to change the subject. Without mentioning Medicare, he said the House majority has been focusing recently on "how to address the deficit (by) cutting back on the expenditures."  Now, he said, the GOP will present a "growth agenda."  They campaigned and won in 2010 on job creation and deficit reduction.  When the new session was gaveled in their focus became strictly about abortion and changing Medicare as we know it.  Not one bill was geared toward jobs.

The recent election in New York has some now wondering where they went wrong and what they can do to regain what they may have once had.  Here’s a clue.  Stop with this assault on ideological grounds and began to focus on the issues of this nation.  Your “growth agenda” should have been the first major policy announcement instead of the budget plan as it is currently written.  Your first bill through the house should have been a comprehensive plan to allow the tax cuts to expire and take away big oil subsidies taunting it as your way to reduce the size of government.  You campaigned on repealing “Obamacare” but spent a large portion of that defunding NPR.  Your success were few and far between but added up to nothing in the grander scheme of things.

If you wish to recover, begin now by ceasing to use your Republican eternal polls because they are not working.  Just listen to the messages being left on your answering machine by those that your policies truly affect.  Big business will survive without your assistance but your core of voters may not.  You are there to make those who voted for you lives better not worse and just because they may not be able to donate large amounts of cash, they have a much better and larger gift.  The gift of the best form of advertisement ever devised, word of mouth.  Do right by you constituents and you will not need large ad buys.  Look to those who have made a career in congress for proof of that.
