Afghan insurgents true intentions becoming clear

The latest rounds of insurgent skirmishes in Afghanistan are a little curious considering the time frame but may be less about making a statement than it is something else.  According to an article written by Rahim Faiez and Jon Gambrell of the Associated Press titled Gunmen attack Afghan government building, kill 6 reports that “Taliban fighters wearing suicide bomb vests hidden under police uniforms attacked a government building Sunday in eastern Afghanistan, triggering an hours-long gun battle and killing six people, officials said.  The attack came a day after a Taliban suicide bomber slipped inside the capital's main military hospital and killed at least six Afghan medical students — worrying reminders of militants' ability to infiltrate locations thought to be secure.  A roadside bomb exploded Sunday in the southern province of Zabul, killing two people and wounding five others, the Afghan Interior Ministry said. Another roadside bomb exploded overnight in Kandahar city, killing one police officer and wounding three others, police said.”

Now let me be clear, I am no expert in this area nor do I play one on television but it appears to me to be a stall tactic to keep the American military right where they are considering it is happening before the generals on the ground complete their recommendations for troop withdrawals in July.  It could be a question of belief that as long as they can continue to hamstring the American military, it keeps this military from occupying other areas of operation for al-Qaeda and other terrorist organizations.  They have constantly heard about how stretched the American military is and it may seem that this fact has been a positive for them.  Allowing the US military to free up bodies could mean that these bodies be deployed in the areas that set-up is not complete and would suffer seriously if disrupted right now.  What they fail to understand is the American military is not a single spear and carries more power that Neptune’s trident.  We are a multi-prong organization that can strike in a number of places at the same time when we are united.  It’s a lesson that many refuse to believe no matter how many defeats they endure but then they never really had a chance to do any better against us.  That’s my opinion and I could be a little biased.
