Bursting the Donald Trump Bubble

As reported by Howard Kurtz in his article for The Daily Beast titled The Trump Backlash Begins, it is the belief of the majority of media professionals that “by taunting the tycoon with jokes and taking out Osama, the president muscled Donald Trump out of the news. The Donald Trump steamroller got run off the road last week, and getting back on track may not be easy.  The wealthy developer surged to the top of the Republican polls with a bombastic media blitz that stunned the political pros, even as many scoffed at the notion that he is seriously running for president. Now he's been roughed up, ridiculed, and, for the moment, knocked out of the news”, but that is not what I see.

It was not the killing of Osama bin Laden that silenced Donald Trump, the first shot was the release of his full form birth certificate.  To understand what I mean, you have to understand Donald Trump.  A bully does not like to be bullied; evidence is his actions on “The Apprentice and Celebrity Apprentice Show”.  Someone who is used to getting his way does not take kindly to losing.  He was the media darling with his birth certificate lies until that long form hit the airwaves.  He was allowed to challenge this president without being challenged until the Correspondence Dinner.  His confidence about the fear he instills into those who crosses his path was shattered when President Obama hammered him in public.  He was sure that it would be okay to comment on others past until “there are signs over the last two weeks that news organizations are starting to step up their scrutiny of the Trump phenomenon. The Washington Post reported that the recently minted Republican has given 54 percent of his donations to Democrats, the cable station NY1 reported that Trump didn’t vote in primary elections for 21 years and after he claimed a high draft lottery number kept him out of Vietnam, the Smoking Gun website reported that Trump received a series of student deferments in college and a medical deferment after graduation.”  Classic proof of Mr. Trump not being used to the scrutiny that he likes to apply others is “the morning after being skewered at the dinner, Trump called Fox & Friends to say: “You raise to a certain level in the polls and boy does the world come after you… I had no idea it would be to that extent, where you know, it was just joke after joke after joke. It was almost like, is there anyone else they could talk about?”

Welcome to the big leagues Mr. Trump, you’re not in Kansas anymore.
