The differences in our thinking

Diversity is and always will be a good thing regardless of how some may feel about it.  Differences allow us to hear a completely opposite view of things and this allows us to make better decisions about subjects having the invaluable information.  What brought me to write about this is the Real Clear Politics piece titled Father Of 9/11 Victim: Obama "Putting Too Much Spotlight on Himself"

The report quotes “David Beamer, father of 9/11 victim Todd Beamer on FOX News: "I feel some chagrin now, though, about how the rest of it has been handled. And frankly it started May Day, 2011 when the president announced what had happened. The excessive use of the personal pronoun that he used in his remarks, I really felt that was the beginning of the Commander-in-Chief putting too much spotlight on himself, taking too much credit for what the remarkable Americans had done. And of course it's only now accelerated to a greater degree in the media. “Now I do not know exactly what he was talking about when he says “excessive use of the personal pronoun” but now Obama is being judged on his grammar?  Another thing that Mr. Beamer said in his taped interview was that he did not believe that the decision to send in the Seals “was courageous, anything but”.  He stated that sending in the Seals was Obama’s only option which is not what has been reported.  He also mentioned that he (I assume, Obama) would “not survive allowing him(Osama) to get away after 9/11”, one can only assume he learned that lesson after criticizing Bush when Osama escaped from Tora Bora.  Mr. Beamer is entitled to his opinion just like all Americans, I just feel like he has been purposely misinformed or is pretending not to know.

This is very much like the advertisement from Fox Nation who says that “all opinions welcome.”  “The Fox Nation is for those opposed to intolerance, excessive government control of our lives, and attempts to monopolize opinion or suppress freedom of thought, expression, and worship. We invite all Americans who share these values to join us here at Fox Nation.”  Except the Fox Nation tends to lean more Republican than anything else so if they are about “excessive government control of our lives and attempts to monopolize opinion or suppress freedom of thought, expression, and worship”, why then are many of them not up in arms with the rash of assaults on the middle class, poor, seniors, veterans and women rights.  Why is Fox one of the main place for people who burn other religion’s holy book able to find a platform to stand on. How can you say you are against excessive government control of our lives when you support the very same people telling all women that the government now will monitor every single pregnancy in this country and you have to follow these particular steps?  It boggles the mind at how one can say that they are for one thing while doing the complete opposite but without these types of differences, we could never know which may be best for the nation as a whole and in the end, that’s all that really matter.
