The real reason the GOP is having problems fielding good 2012 candidates

Phillip Elliott’s Associated Press article titled No go in 2012: Ind. GOP Gov. Daniels not running talks about “Gov. Mitch Daniels, R-Ind., said Sunday he won't run for president because of family concerns, narrowing the field but making a wide-open race even hazier.”   It speaks to “the Republican establishment who longed for a conservative with a strong fiscal record to run.  Polls show that Republican primary voters want more options in a race that includes former Govs. Mitt Romney of Massachusetts and Tim Pawlenty of Minnesota, as well as ex-House Speaker Newt Gingrich and others” but what this article did not speak to was why.

The answer is clear; Republicans are now traveling the same road that caused one of their own members to call the Republican name unwanted “dog food”.  Republican controls the House of Representatives, many State Houses and Senates and even Governors offices.  They ran on job creations and smaller government.  They promised to do a much better job on these issues than Democrats and when since they were hired not one of these promises have been fulfilled.  Checking the process of these groups since they won their seats all you can find is an all out assault on women’s rights. The middle class, seniors, veterans, unions and the poor.  Not one Republican that promised to put country first has done so.  This and this alone is why the field is so murky and no mainstream candidate will step to the plate.

Another major reason why you see no main-streamer stepping up is that they have no real policy ideas to present.  Those candidates who have already threw their hats into the ring are not being asked about their policies or what they would do in certain situations as those facing our current president.  In the 2008 Presidential run, this was one of the main question asked by journalist so why not now?  Could it be because the media already know that they do not have solutions?  It is so easy to sit back and armchair quarterback someone else but the temperature changes when it is you who has to make a decision about these very things.  Until a mainstream Republican is able to step up to the microphone, present reasonable policies that addresses the major ills of this nation outside of repealing “Obamacare”, the need to defeat Barack Obama will remain a pipe dream.
