The War between Wall Street and Main Street

Before this economic collapse, many people on Main Street never really considered Wall Street as alive; it was only thought of a place where people go to work.  Lately, it’s becoming increasingly clear that Wall Street is most definitely alive and is eating our breakfast.  Typically, I never really like to categorize any issue as “us/we” and “they/them” but for the sake of clarity and to better help you understand my point, this time I must.  We will be the middle class, seniors, poor and less fortunate while they will simply be the wealthy.  Make no mistake about it, this is class warfare.

One of the most ingenious things ever created by Main Street was Wall Street but just like any animal that goes mad, it turned on us.  Main Street wanted a better life for their children so we created the Student Loans.  We wanted to reach a higher standard so we created Home Loans.  We wanted to be our own boss so we created Commercial Loans.  We wanted more convenience and created all of these specialty stores and markets that exist today.  All these things and more were created to make our lives easier but the easier life got the more complacent we became and before we knew it we had become a slave to our own creation.

This demise did not begin with Citizens United case but it can end if citizens unite.  It’s not “Big Government” that’s the problem, its “Big Business”.  Big Business acts like a big brother who dominates their smaller siblings by taking every extra dollar Washington gives us and not allowing us to amass anything.  When President Obama entered office, 97% of Americas got a tax cut but how many of us got a chance to see it.  With a slight decrease in payroll taxes, Washington gave us a little bit more extra money only to have big brother hiding around the corner, as we skipped off to school, with rising gas prices.

Look around and ask yourself, is it “big government” who is not only bringing home the bacon but the whole hog or big business.  We created this monster (Wall Street) and now its time to deal with it.  The only way to stop a bully is to stand up to them.  We can do this by gathering together all of your unemployed and create competition for those businesses who continues to refuse to respect its creators.  We do this by offering those same services at a price you know people can afford and give them the service that they deserve.  It will not be long before those same big businesses will lower their prices, stop their assault and remember who really pays their salaries and dividends.  It’s time to get off the sidelines and get involved.  There is strength in numbers and we far outnumber them.  America was not built nor will it ever be found in a boardroom.  America was and always will be constructed on the street.  We ceded the power to big business for it to grow and make our lives easier but not I think its time to take that power back.
