A Veteran’s Attempt to Educate Idiots Attacking Military Troops with PTSD

You can always tell those who have never served one day in the military, they either have the ultimate respect for them or a serious disdain.  For those who have the ultimate respect, nothing makes a veterans feel better than to know that what he/she done was appreciated but for those like Michael Savage who seems to have nothing but pure disdain, I’d like to say walk a mile in my shoes mister then jump on your high horse during your radio show after you put down the medication.

I read an article titled “The Junk Science Behind Michael Savage's Attacks On Military Troops With PTSD” by Lisa Reed who reported that “Last week, Michael Savage leveled his latest in a long string of attacks on Americans with mental illness and the medical community that works to help them. After a veteran caller with Post traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) expressed support for the city of San Francisco naming a bridge after the late Robin Williams, the right-wing radio host announced that he is "so sick and tired of everyone with their complaints about PTSD, depression." It was also reported about Mr. Savage that “on October 14, 2014, Savage ripped veteran sufferers of Post-traumatic stress disorder, accusing them of "weakness".  According to Savage, "Everyone has depression in their life. But if the whole nation is told, “boo-hoo-hoo, come and get a medication, come and get treatment, talk about mental illness.” You know what you wind up with? You wind up with Obama in the White House and liars in every phase of the government. That’s what you wind up with. It’s a weak, sick, nation. A weak, sick, broken nation. And you need men like me to save the country. You need men to stand up and say stop crying like a baby over everything...No wonder we’re being laughed at around the world. No wonder ISIS can defeat our military."

The article mentioned above further stated that “PTSD isn't just a combat-related injury. It can result from various traumatic incidents, ranging from child abuse to car accidents to muggings to sexual assault. A fight-or-flight response can be triggered by things that remind the survivor of his or her trauma, or things that catch the person off-guard, like bright lights or loud noises. Often those with PTSD experience flashbacks, where memories and feelings associated with past trauma come rushing back as if the trauma was happening all over again.”  This is a fact that makes it even more surprising that educated dumb people can’t seem to wrap their heads around.  If Mr. Savage’s childhood was truly like anything he has described then he too may be suffering from the very same PTSD as those who wore and are wearing the uniforms today.  I don’t see or hear anyone telling him to suck it up and be a man.  Makes me wish to get a look in his medicine cabinet and ask him, does the medication he takes help with his flashbacks, illusions of grander or has he ever thought about anger management.

People like Mr. Savage must always have someone to blame for things that do not go their way because they are not men enough to own their choices.  His entire life is built upon the premise that nothing that happens bad to him is his fault.  He avoids responsibility for any decision that he makes and hides behind the microphone instead of facing anyone who disagrees with him face to face.  Now does that sound like a man to you because it sure as hell does not sound like one to me but then what do I know because according to an expert like Michael Savage, I’m weak because I suffer from PTSD and am a veteran.
