9th set of human remains proves a serial killer or just a dumping field

Adam Reiss of CNN article titled Serial killer probe finds what could 9th set of human remains, makes me think that maybe these discoveries is less those of a serial killer and more of a dumping ground.  A dumping ground created by so many going missing without too much effort to find them expended by authorities or funeral directors looking to shave cost and increase profit.

The article reported that “police are examining what appears to be a human skull found on the outskirts of a bird sanctuary in Long Island, New York, potentially the ninth set of remains discovered in the probe of a suspected serial killer.  Lt. Kevin Smith of the Nassau County Police Department said the skull was found Monday around 3:30 p.m. in the town of Oyster Bay. About four hours earlier, a New York state police officer and his cadaver dog spotted another set of remains about a mile and a half away, and authorities worked to determine whether those remains are human.”  "It's just been very startling, all of it has been," Smith told reporters Monday. "It's just amazing that we're finding these things. Obviously, we have a lot of work to do."

I come to this thought mainly because of the one sentence in the article which is extremely hard to explain.  “The missing woman who prompted authorities to initiate the search -- 24-year-old Shannan Gilbert -- has not yet been identified.”  They began this search looking for one and now have found so many more.  Imagine the family of these people looking for closure and being denied for at least two years or those families who thought they had closure with the burial of their loved ones only to possibly learn later that they were wrong.  I am sure that answers will be soon forthcoming and we all may finally soon have an answer.
