Abele election as Milwaukee County Executive could be an even larger blow to Walker

In an article by Huffington Post titled Chris Abele Elected Milwaukee County Executive in Blow to Scott Walker it was reported that “Chris Abele has won the race for Milwaukee County Executive, defeating Republican Jeff Stone handily on Tuesday. The position was previously held by Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker (R), whose controversial anti-union law has sharply divided the state. Abele won more than 60% of the vote.” It further reported that “Abele used the recent controversy surrounding Walker to build support for his campaign.” While I tend to somewhat agree with the premise of this article, I believe that Abele could inflict much more damage.
I believe that if Abele were to do much more for the county than Scott Walker did that would increase the amount of damage to Walker. Abele would need to accomplish major things in as little amount of time as possible and those who are re-calling this governor or the majority’s choice to oppose him in the next election could use. It has to be accomplishments that were above board and transparent as well as extremely popular considering the climate of Wisconsin. It may mean making compromises that some may not favor but in the end would make the journey of anyone to follow that much more obvious and they too will have to continue to work for the people and not for their own interest.
I do not believe that going back on a promise of not raising taxes would be a bad thing for Abele if he made sure to include everyone and not separate the classes as we see is being done in Washington where the poor and middle class keeps paying while the wealthy is excluded. If Abele really does right by the majority, I believe that he will cause more people running for office to be more open and honest but then that’s just my opinion and I could be wrong.
