Why President Obama succeeds where others may fail
I do not know how many times, I’ve tried to explain to anyone who will listen just how this president operates. I advised them to look at how he speaks to those he disagrees with and then contrast that with how he does it in public. He is not a man who wishes to air his dirty laundry in public nor does he want to embarrass anyone in front of a camera. He speaks candidly and frank to them alone but speaks respectfully in public. If you still do not believe me take a look at the article written by David Jackson of the USA TODAY titled Obama unplugged, tells Republicans: 'You think we're stupid?'
The article reports, among other things, that “Thinking that reporters were out of the room, Obama took questions from political donors after a press pool had been dismissed. But a microphone remained on, and Mark Knoller of CBS News took notes. In what amounted to his most extended remarks on talks with House Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio, and others, Obama said he protested GOP efforts to add items to the budget bill under discussion. Obama is also quoted as saying "When Paul Ryan says his priority is to make sure, he's just being America's accountant ... This is the same guy that voted for two wars that were unpaid for, voted for the Bush tax cuts that were unpaid for, voted for the prescription drug bill that cost as much as my health care bill -- but wasn't paid for ... So it's not on the level." This is the type of conversation that you will have with him in private and most times out of the ear shot of microphones and news hounds. He does this because no one will ever be able to dismiss him as just another angry black man.
Which is exactly why you will not see much of him jumping up and down in front of the camera? Ask any world leader who has ever talked to him. Many will tell you that it is required to speak to him directly without worry that what you say will come back or your passion will be misinterpreted in any way. This allows leaders to get things completely off their chests and feel much better when they exit the room. It allows him to show that he does listen to all of your concerns even though end the end the final decision is his and it may not be everything you wished. Whether you like it or not matters strictly to you alone but if nothing else it compels you to at least respect it. He invited Mr. Ryan to the speech he gave if for no other reason than to prove, what he says in private he is not afraid to say in public. That’s not weak people it’s a strength sorely needed in of all places Washington.
