Gadhafi forces winning by Libya may not be a bad thing

Thousand of questions are being asked and they all involve what role America should play in supporting the rebels fighting in Libya.  Many are under the impression that a no fly zone will work when it has not all of the other times and there are even a few suggesting risking the lives of more service members by putting boots on the ground. While many have a shoot first and ask question later mentality, I have a slightly different take.

The Ryan Lucas and Maggie Michael article for the Associated Press titled Gadhafi forces bomb airport at rebel stronghold has many believing that a Gadhafi total victory is all but insured.  I say that the fighting has just begun and I point to the following statements from this article as proof.    Gheriani, the rebel spokesman, said by telephone from Benghazi that the opposition was hoping for a positive U.N. Security Council vote but "if not, we'll rely on ourselves and do what we can."  ‘Gheriani told The Associated Press that Benghazi was "armed to the teeth" and the opposition is ready to defend it.
More checkpoints were popping up at intersections and on main roads in Benghazi, manned by men in uniform armed with Ak-47s and backed by anti-aircraft guns mounted on pickup trucks.”  “A Benghazi resident who did not want to be identified for fear of reprisals said the city's young men were volunteering to undergo basic military training. Those already trained were seeking more preparation to be battle ready.”  These rebels will not go quietly into that good night.

I am also expecting the United Nations and the Arab League to finally say “yes” to more outside military involvement and with Gadhafi forces focused on the rebels and completely exposed, UN airstrikes on theses forces will be quick and decisive.  As reported in this article “Gadhafi's army had been on the southern, eastern and western outskirts of Ajdabiya and had seized the nearby port town of Zwitina to the north, encircling the city.”  This army feels emboldened by the tanks and personnel carriers that move them around, so dismantling these will leave those mercenaries only their rifles which they may choose to discard when one rebel bullet whizzes by their head.  No the real battle is about to begin and I think Gadhafi forces may be feeling a little over confident.

Either way, it may not be a bad idea if Gadhafi forces win out anyway.  I say that because Gadhafi is convinced that this uproar was started by al-Quada and feeling as he does about them probably mean that they will not get a foothold in his country.
