What the Tea Party may have really meant by “Take Back Our Country”

Believe it or not, I was walking from the kitchen to my small office space when it suddenly occurred to me what that lady meant when she was seen crying on camera yelling “I want my country back”.  It was during the “grassroots” protest of healthcare at town halls all over and it soon became the rally cry for all those signs and some major politicians.

I came up with this thought because since that time I had been trying to understand what she and the others meant.  I volunteered to serve this country in the United States Marines as well as knew of others who saw this healthcare debate differently had and were still serving in the military, yet this cry for getting back my or our country did not sound as if it included me or anyone who disagreed with them.  I really wanted to believe that it was only a difference in which party they thought would bring America out of this recession and back stronger than it ever was.  I think now the evidence shows otherwise.

It wasn’t at all about which party could bring back prosperity, it was more about which party could bring back the control of their country.  For as long as we can remember, the White House has been occupied by white men.  There were now a black man in that office and that is what was making her cry and got so many more up in arms.  I say that because if you take a few minutes and openly look at the evidence, you might just come to the same conclusion.

Obama took the lead from George Bush and re-vamped the TARP program with rules and regulations to insure that taxpayers will be paid back first.  No one put up much a fight when the Bush Administration came to congress for this with written on a single piece of paper but after Obama took over and changed the rules, everyone had a lot to say.  Now that the TARP program can be called a success and the bulk of the money has been repaid, they wish to ignore and seek other reasons to dismiss this man.  Prior to Obama taking office, news reports was full of insurance companies using patients like a pool ball but very little outrage was heard from the public, Obama steps in and steps up, makes a valid attempt at fixing this problem and now the roar is so loud, many can’t hear themselves think.  Cash for Clunkers, the Auto Industry bailout and the Stimulus were other reasons people used to decry this president and since these too, proved to do what he said that they would do has fallen on deaf ears and eyes.

To begin getting back their country, the excuse was that jobs were not returning fast enough.  Those who supported this president stayed home while those who wanted their country back voted in the midterms.  They installed those that they knew would give them back their country and fix the job situation at the same time.  Since Washington has been invaded by those same politicians, not one jobs bill has been proposed.  There has been a lot of abortion bills and other class-warfare legislation but nothing creating one job.  Maybe it was believed that in order to create jobs, they must first eliminate some jobs or maybe it was to insure that this president achieves nothing else and is truly a one-termer.  You only have to consider what you have read to see my point and if that is not evidence enough, look no further than what is happening in states like Wisconsin, Ohio, Michigan and Maine, just to name a few.

No, they are not there to serve the public as their oaths say they are because we would have more to speak about than whether collective bargaining is killing state budgets.  They were sent there to make sure that this president failed and they take back their country.  The only problem with their plan is that I too consider this country home and it is mine to share but I will never give it up to suit a few who won’t even acknowledge that I exist.  Just my opinion, I could be wrong.
