Is the New York City’s Bus fatality investigation losing its focus?

Associated Press’ Michael Gormley’s article titled NYC bus driver's trail before fatal crash probed only examined one aspect of the story about bus driver, Ophadell Williams and the bus crash that killed 15 people.  It is also the most minor of the questions yet to be answered.

The article focused on “investigators are focusing on the driver, a man with a decades-old manslaughter conviction who was not supposed to be driving because he never resolved several traffic tickets.”  "We want to know what he ate, what he drank and how much he slept," NTSB vice chairman Christopher Hart said.”  While it is prudent to probe this question if for no other reason than to try and prevent something like this happening again, I wonder if it will take away from the ultimate question.  That question is what exactly happened and who, if anyone, should answer for it.  I worry about these things because we sometimes get in such a frenzy about the little things that we fail to see the big picture and learn the lesson that event could teach us.

It is always important to keep learning even if you think you know it all already because in reality no one knows everything.  There are lessons in everything we do and if we ever intend to get better, we must use these lessons to educate ourselves more and not take any opportunity to expand our hearts and mind for granted.  This is a tragedy and not the way anyone should lose those that they love.  There is no excuse worthy enough of a human life and there will never be one.  All life is precious and should be respected by all of us.

Because of this is why it is paramount that we discover all that there is to know about an incident and make it a priority to do all we can to insure that doesn’t happen again.  With each passing event we will get better and while we will never be ale to completely prevent anything, we can always try and make them easier to take.
