Is destroying the US economy worth Obama not getting a second term?

This question is one which should be asked of all lawmakers both state and federal.  It should be asked by all interviewers to all lawmakers especially those who have pledged to see that he does not get that second term.  Considering the way things are going, those in charge could do a much better job at putting people back to work but are refusing and this question is more than relevant.

Consider, if you will, the number of jobs which could have been created if those who were slated to receive federal money for high speed rail had accepted the money and begin the process.  Consider those who were offered money to keep teachers in the classrooms, cops on the streets and firemen/women in the firehouses but refused.  Consider those who have project ready infrastructure jobs that were offered funds to begin them but decided that putting people to work in their state would damage any chance of taking back the Whitehouse in 2012.

Consider those who voted against allowing the extension of unemployment benefits but voted for keeping the tax cuts in place for million and billionaires.  Consider those who have made it their primary focus to deny American citizens their equal rights under the US Constitution but refuse to bring to trail those really responsible for driving the economy into the ditch.  Those who favored bailouts of Wall Street when Bush was in office but rail against it now.  Those who voted for the bills which added to the deficit then but are crying foul now.  Take a few minutes to add up the possible number of jobs which could have been created if stimulus money and other federal offers had been accepted and followed through with, and then tell me how the unemployment numbers would look.  Is keeping President Obama from getting a second term really worth destroying the only reason many middle class Americans has ever made it to the middle class (unions)?

If this is the case then we might as well look into changing our name from the United States of America to the United States of Koch Industries or Wall Street.  This is supposed to be the country of citizens all trying to make a better life for their children and given the same opportunities that were affording those who now sit at the top of the food chain.  This is supposed to be the Land of Opportunity where any person born or legalized can succeed with hard work and dedication.  It’s not because no one works harder than those with less yet they do not see more and those who have more are getting more.  This is not what all those wars were about and this is not the reason that this nation was founded.   In our haste to quote from the US Constitution and find anything in it to support our causes, we tend to forget one important fact.  That all men are created equal and have the same inalienable rights.  Where is my right to a decent education for my children, a decent job and salary to provide for them, a decent opportunity to build my own business and a decent opportunity to live my life as I see fit?

There is one giant aspect that I have to agree with those who speak of small government.  I am quite able to decide for myself what works for me and I do not need government to tell me how to think.  What I need is a government of the people, for the people and by the people but to act as the people.  As long as my actions or inactions does not directly or indirectly affect the well being of another, leave me the heck alone and provide me with only the support I ask for.  Just my opinion and I can’t be wrong.
