Progressive Hypocrisy and the Obama Doctrine

I can remember railing against the Progressives when they labeled President Obama for being weak by compromising on the Bush tax cuts early in the negotiations.  Just about to a person they were screaming that he was not stronger enough and that if he did not grow a pair then they would consider mounting a challenger for him in 2012.  I remember informing them that there was a method to his madness but I don’t think they heard me.

The unions in Wisconsin took a page from Obama’s playbook and did the exact same thing early in the run up to protests and Democratic State Senators escaping to Illinois.   They gave into all of the budget demands of Governor Walker early but refused to accept the last of the governor’s demand when he wanted to strip them of their collective bargaining.  These same progressives are now applauding this move by the unions and say that by doing this early in the game, they took away any momentum that the Republicans could mount by showing a willingness to help their state with it’s budget woes.  They are seen by these progressives as excellent negotiators and by making this concession, they have revealed the real agenda of the Republicans in the State House.  Funny how they applaud the union for the very same actions that Obama was demonized for doing.  Wonder if anyone of them will now make it a point to step in front of the camera and apologize or explain.

It has always been and shall always remain part of the “Obama Doctrine” to give as much as possible to get things done for the nation as a whole.  It will always be part of this doctrine to realize that no one will ever get everything that they want but in order to do the best job they can on behalf of the American public, compromising early reveals the real truth behind opposition actions and forces them to perform the job that they were elected to do instead of play games in order to see him fail.  If there was ever a clear example of that, it should have been seen during the “lame duck” session.  Still makes me wonder what this man really has to do to get the credit he deserves.  I will always be watching our president and voice my disagreement with him over decisions but I will never undermine his attempts when I see what the end game could be, but then that’s just me and I guess I should not expect this of another.
