Simple answer as to why no intervention in Yemen, Bahrain and other areas

There may be hundreds of reasons why there has been no intervention in the conflict of the countries mentioned above and more that we have yet to learn about but to me it all revolves around one simple answer.  Times have changed and so have the majority of Americans.

I remember a day, while serving in the United States Marine Corps, we used to look for ways to showcase our military might and if any thing happened to give us a chance to do that we were glad to immerse ourselves in it.  That was then and this is now.  With the current military thinly stretched, the last thing we wish to do is involve ourselves in any situation which would tie us down for years.  Some argue that this is the same in Libya but I respectfully disagree with that.  With the lead taken by other countries that normally means they will be responsible for the majority of the price tag.  American war fighting technology is second to none and its use can diminish the need for ground troops but to some these seems to escape them.

In Egypt it was clear that the protestors were of the same mind even if they were of a different religion.  We saw Christian and Muslims side by side looking for and demanding freedoms that we in this country only remember we have when it suits our fancy.  Every human being on this earth and in this universe deserves to be paid fairly and treated with dignity regardless of sex, color, origin, religion or creed.  In Libya the same can be said for those who walked the streets without weapons and armed only with signs and a wish for a better life.  Two section of opposition religion that was side by side fighting for a common goal.  This can not be said right now for Yemen because we know that there is a heavy al-Quada presence there so time must be taken to make sure that when we stand with them we are standing for citizens for a better life and not wolves in sheep’s clothing.  The same can also be said for Bahrain and the other hotspots in the Middle East.  Let’s get the whole story and if we are going to do this, let’s do it right instead of jumping into the water before we know how deep and cold it really is.

Simply, we do not want to impose our will on any free-thinking nation and in order to keep from doing it, we desire the will of a majority of the other nations and a clear invitation.  We got that with this intervention with Libya and until we get that with other countries, we need to monitor but stay far away from another Iraq and Afghanistan.  This administration did not start those wars but so far has gone much further than any other to end it, what have you done for your country lately?
