Gadhafi’s forces may no longer mean Moammar

I am beginning to believe that this revolution in Libya is no longer about what Moammar Gadhafi will do and more about what actions his sons will take.  Seeing Moammar on television tells me that his health is failing and failing fast.  It also tells me that he is not as in control as many believe.  The question then becomes who is in control?  I think it is more about the sons running the government than their father.

What makes me think this is a few statements found in Associated Press Maggie Michael and Paul Schemm’s article titled Gadhafi forces barrage rebels in east and west.  Statements like “A brigade led by one of Gadhafi's sons, Khamis, is believed to be leading the assault, shelling neighborhoods with tank and artillery fire from the outskirts and trying to push troops in to the city's central Martyrs Square where rebels had set up camp.”  Khamis was likely informed some time ago that he was next to follow his father in Libya and seeing this not being accepted by the people is something that he refuse to allow to happen.  It’s his destiny to follow his father and he will not go quietly into the night.  Moammar is no longer in charge.

I am also convinced that there is a division within the Gadhafi government which will ultimately destroy it from the inside.  I say this because of this statement “Further demonstration of this thought is shown by this statement from the same article. “A spokesman for the opposition's newly created Interim Governing Council in Benghazi, meanwhile, said a man who claimed to represent Gadhafi made contact with the council to discuss terms for the leader of four decades to step down. Mustafa Gheriani told The Associated Press the council could not be certain whether the man was acting on his own initiative or did in fact represent Gadhafi.”  If the opposition were to send a message that they were willing to allow Moammar to step down, this would provide proof positive of the division as well as may end the fighting.  Just a thought, I could be wrong.
