Egypt’s Freedom Fighters teaches us all a Lesson

Glen Beck made a very big mistake when he said that this protest was not about the people, it was and it is.  It says more about the drive to freedom that so many of us take for granted.  There are even a few Americans who wonder if sacrificing their lives in the streets of Egypt is smart and this coming from Americans in itself is quite rich.

We know that this is all about the people when a couple of people with very cushy and safe jobs step away to side with the protestors fighting and dying for a little bit of freedom.  Two people from the State-run Television Station in Egypt walked out when they saw that they were controlled beyond his point of showing what was really going on in Egypt.  That took heart and courage on a grander scale and is exactly what happened when those who sailed the seas in search of a new world took flight.

We know that his is when we see peaceful protestors setting up make shift camps and treating the occasion like a carnival until those horsemen rode through.  Some said that it reduced the civility of a people but it was the same thing when Britain pushed those in the New World to the point that they began to fight back.  As anyone should recognize, if you continually push and push, it will not be too long before the one that is pushed begin to push back.  While there is talk about the anger being so strong that people and journalist are in grave danger, there was one and probably several more stories about the generosity of the Egyptian people.  One reporter told a story about being surrounded and lead to a place where he figured there would be no return.  He spoke about not knowing what to do and then one of his fellow travelers sought out an elderly man and appealed to his better angel.  They hurriedly left there but they are now alive and well all the same.

These people, like all strong people are quite passionate about what they believe.  Some can be bought and paid to violence but the majority of them chose not to be.  Some can be influenced to sacrifice their souls for money and power but the majority chose not to be influenced.  Those are the majority that this fight is about.  A strong and proud majority that is only asking for the same as others have because they deserve that respect as well.   This protest is all about the people and not about a new world order.  It’s the road that must be traveled in order to begin the journey to a more perfect nation.  For Americans and America, we should know that better than most because it is the road that we currently travel today.
