Clouds begin to clear around Campaign Finance and the Citizens United Case

Seems that the Koch Brothers have exposed both Justice Scalia and Justice Thomas when it was revealed that both of them had honored them with a guest appearance at a retreat they were having.  This retreat was supposedly on campaign finance, so the question then becomes should both not recued themselves when the Citizens United case was presented.

The O’Jays had a song titled “For the Love of Money” and in it they reviewed several different ways that people would sell their very souls for the love of money.  That song is truer today than it has ever been before.  I am quite aware that money is a necessary evil but really people, how much is enough.  You have two cars in your driveway but you have got to have a couple more.  How much is enough.  You live in a 32 room house with 12 bedrooms when it is only two of you living there.  How much is enough.  You have more available cash than you could ever spend in a lifetime yet you will do anything for a few dollars more.  How much is enough.

Apparently Justice Thomas paid for this little trip out of pocket because there is evidence that the group who organized this gathering had to reimburse him so it was not like he did not know where he was going.  Nor was he kidnapped, blindfolded and driven to this gathering and held for four days.  This decision sold out our nation and allowed small but well funded groups to be able to buy an election and lower the expectations of real voters as to having a say in their government more.  The protestors in Egypt reflected the true power of the people when we all stand as one and the Citizens United decision ripped some of that away.  I do not know when enough will be enough for others but this is more than enough for me.
