Elections really do have Consequences

During the midterm when so many progressive groups were piling on DINOs (Democrats in Name Only), they were also giving many democratic voters an excuse to stay home.  It should be abundantly clear now that the advice was flawed.  Staying home allowed the House of Representatives to be taken over by the Republicans and it gave State Legislatures a new look as well as ushered in a new crop of Governors with them.   This is the result of sitting home while your country cries out for involvement and a new direction.

The House of Representatives promised to focus on jobs but so far all we have heard is an all out assault on women rights.  Not one job has been created and so far the message is focused on cutting more jobs and putting many more out of work.  There were opportunities to create jobs with this new vision of high speed rail but many Governors are saying no to that as well.  Talking bout budget shortfalls, would not creating the environment for high speed rail put more people to work, increase the amount of revenue that government could take in and eliminating the need for budget cuts overall?  Has this fact escaped the best and the brightest who now sit in those soft cushy chairs in those government buildings?  Where are the real Republican women who are also the target of this assault on women’s rights?  Are they just sitting back and allowing this to happen or does it really matter since they believe that they will not be the women affected?

State Governors are poised to rip away rights from middle class Americans by taking away the only real source of strength that workers have against Corporate America.  How else can workers have a voice or make life better for their children and grandchildren without the ability of negotiating as a group.  These same speakers say that in order to bring down the cost of healthcare, the more people you have in a group the better your chances of getting what you need to make your life better.  Does this not hold true for working conditions as well?  The public who voted brought us this as well as those who chose to stay home and not exercise their right of voice.  We made this bed now we must lay in it.

Some called the union medical benefits rich and said that they want everyone else to pay for them yet there has been no mention of the top 3 percent who have multiple homes, cars and jets that are not being considered for donation into helping the nation recover.  We can sit back if we wish and allow this nation to be taken back to the stone ages or we can stand up and say enough.  We can go all out to stop those who lie about what is really happening or we can just sit back and wait on someone else to do it for us. Everyone has a job to do in order to pass on a better tomorrow to those coming after us, the question is, are we doing it?
