How do we know that God will only allow that which he knows you can handle?

It is a statement often made but seldom ever explained which is quite unfair since it is so easy to explain.  May be we do not explain it because we do not know what to say or how to say it?  May be we do not explain because we don’t know ourselves or maybe we don’t explain it because we never really thought about it only repeated it because it sounded good to say? Maybe it is time we explained why we know that God will only allow that pain and suffering that he already knows you can handle.  We know this frankly because it is the same that he did for his only son Jesus.  Remember back in that book we call a Bible where satan wished to tempt Jesus?  Remember he had to get permission from God before he could.  God granted satan three chances to get Jesus to condemn him and three chances was all he got.  We know that he failed all three times and had to stop there because his power was nowhere near the power of God.  If he loved his son as much...

Something about this Story does not Pass the Smell Test

Many of us depend on the media to give us the pertinent information from which we can create and build our opinion but lately the media has become the catalysts that forms that opinion.  We read only a few of the lines because we now look only to the headline to tell us how we should feel about a particular subject.  Some of us have gotten wise to this and now will read the entire article once maybe twice and diagnosis what the writer was trying to get us to believe as well as seeing a few points that they might have missed.  This is one of these such stories. It is titled “Missing Atlanta teen was hidden in plain sight in Georgia suburb for four years” from an unknown author for an unknown publication but to understand what I am trying to say, you have got to read the entire article which is below. “Police found Gregory Jean Jr hidden behind a false wall, a captive in his father’s house, but for four years he had been in plain sight, an abused child growing up i...

God is neither the problem nor the solution, you are

As Christians, we have been led to believe a lie that has been propagated by many of those standing behind the pulpit as well as those who may have never stepped foot in a church.  We have been told that if we believe strong enough, pray hard enough and have an undying faith, God would grant us with all that we desire.  We believe it because so many entrusted to show us God’s way and deliver the Good News as only they can have said so.  They have used passages from the Bible to show how powerful he is and even reminds people of how his son Jesus turned water into wine.  But what they refuse to tell us is that God foes not deliver present like the mythical Santa at Christmas.  What our father does is open the doors necessary for you to receive those things you prayed for but it is up to us to reach out and grab them, to turn that knob and walk through to show that we deserve these things by fighting our way to them instead of waiting on God to deliver them on a ...

Twist of Faith-Episode Three- Dates and Calendars

Today we want to talk about the Calendar and dates that we hold so  dear.   The issue is whether we should continue to follow common wisdom or begin to think for ourselves.  Jehovah Witness say Jesus was born in October and some point to the Greek calendar to say it was other  months.   Regardless of what date you decide to observe and celebrate the birth of Christ, the main point is that you celebrate it.   What we have come to call the birth of Christ on the 25 th of December has  stopped meaning celebrating the best gift this world could have ever gotten, to seeing just how many  lights we can strum upon our house, how many presents we can put under the tree, who can out spend  whom on this date.   The news is not about the birth of Christ and instead we are bombarded with  Christmas Specials as if Hollywood has the answers to our salvation.   Kids get to see all the old Christmas  Cartoon Specials and for we...

This Christmas may be less about Gifts and more about Opportunity

Being a single parent, I can really feel the anguish many parents may endure this holiday season when it comes to not having the finances to put anything under the Christmas tree or even have a tree this year but while thinking about that, another thought entered my mind.   What if this event is happening for another reason, what if this is an opportunity for all of us to get back to the real meaning of Christmas. In a well-written article by Phil Wahba and Martha Sanchez-Avila for Reuters titled Poor struggling, rich spending as Christmas nears, it was reported that “Adriana Garcia won't be buying her family Christmas gifts this year.   The 26-year-old from Huntington Park, California lost her job as a teacher's assistant last year and now works part-time at a Jamba Juice near Los Angeles.   Her husband, a security guard unable to work since hurting his hand three months ago, is not yet getting his disability checks. The couple spends on the basics: food and rent. ...
