For as long as I can remember, people are always trying to figure out and pretend to fix what is wrong with this country.  None has ever been successful nor will we ever be, simply because the thing wrong with America is us.  We will never be successful because we lack the drive determination and balls to fix that one entity that can make all our problems disappear and our entire suffering end.  We lack the intestinal fortitude to fix ourselves. We eat the same things, we dress the same way, we go to the same places and then we wonder why nothing much changes in our lives.  Many move to a different city, buy a different kind of car, find a different set of friends but we still can’t understand why we seem stuck in the same rut.  It is because we do not wish to bother with the one change, if made, that would make these other changes irrelevant.  We change our hairstyles, we change our demeanor, we change our clothing, we change our over-all look and...

Many parents are under the impression that buying your child name brand items and everything he or she wants is the ideal measure of good parenting.  They think that just by giving them all that they desire, it will prevent them from desiring anything that the parent cannot afford.  The only problem with this is they are wrong and have been for so long, I’m embarrassed that it has taken so long for many of us to realize it. If you buy your child only name brand items and everything he or she wants, you are setting them up to keep that mindset as they age and because of that, they now will do whatever they need to in order to obtain that desire.  People often wonder why children shoplift especially when they are quite affluent or have the money in their pockets.  Children shoplift because they want it now and the effort to walk up to the counter and pay for it is just too much for them.  You ask why children who are poor shoplift, simply because their parent...

Many people ask me where do I come up with these deep philosophical solutions or theories in many of my writings and the simple answer is having a very strong desire to understand why people do what they do and an equally strong desire to be able to explain it in a way which allows all of us a choice.  The choice of owning our actions which gives us back control over them or ignoring them which keeps us in that funk which some seems to enjoy.  Others have accused me of being too simplistic and minimizing an issue but to them I say that contrary to popular belief the simple answer is always the right one because problems are only complicated when we inject other things into them.  Ever notice that the simplest change to an existing product makes that product better? Politicians claim to want to fight for you so they need your vote but as soon as they get into office, you are forgotten and the only voice they hear are those of lobbyists or major donors to their next campaign event.  Funny how they talk so well on the stump but renege quickly on their promises at the trough.  Take for example this article written by David Espo for TPM titled “Why Did the GOP Just Expand Obamacare Choices?” Remember the GOP, they are the ones who promised if elected that they would give you jobs but refused to even bring that 2 year jobs bill to the floor.  They did, however, “at the prodding of business organizations, House Republicans quietly secured a recent change in President Barack Obama's health law to expand coverage choices”.  So what does this mean to you, nothing but it clearly shows you that hiring a group of people who do not carry your interest forward from campaign trail to office, should be quickly fired.  But alias, we si...

After years of thought and observations, I believe that there is a single cause of why most people lie.   We tell our kids how important it is to tell the truth yet in certain situation we find ourselves circumventing that truth for one particular reason.   What is that reason you may ask, it’s fear. Now let’s not imply or pretend that I am some sort of expert in this because I am not.   I am just a regular person with time enough on my hands to try and figure out why we do what we do.   I say lying is caused by fear because when you think about the times that you lied, think about the truth of why you lied.   I broke a window in the house when I was growing up and when asked who did it, my response was “I think I did”.   Now we all know that this was a lie because I was the only one in that room and I clearly know that I broke that window but I was afraid that my mother would yell or discipline me and I gave her as much of the truth as I could.   I g...
