When the answer to what ails us lies within

When can 30 percent of the GOP and Russia take control of an entire nation and its people and rewrite a nation’s history?  It happens when 100 percent of Democrats, 100 percent of Independents and the entire rest of the globe sit idly by an allow it.  Many now say taking down statues could be the answer to our nation’s ills and some say waving of the Confederate Flag is offensive because of what that flag stands for.  Others say that the statues are a piece of our history and that the Confederate Flag is a symbol of our democracy where those who disagree with the current course are free to stand and resist both may have a valid point but all are missing the deeper and real issue.  It is not the statues that possess an issue, it is those who idolize and worship those statues.   It is not the Confederate Flag that is offensive and carries with it the dark history of a nation; it is those who stand beneath it and behind that way of life.  It is not nor n...

If 2 citizens were fired for displaying the Confederate Flag, our nation is in trouble.

If this is true and these two citizens were let go because they refused to remove the Confederate Flag symbol from their own personal property, this nation has allowed it’s citizens to violate the very principal that so many pride themselves on when bragging about this country.  God Almighty, knew that attempting to control the minds of men was a lost cause which is why he gave us the authority to decide for ourselves.  He told us that we are in control of our actions, non-actions and lives so that on judgment day, we will not have anyone else to blame for the way we decided to live that life.  I can understand removal of the Confederate Flag from public buildings but when you begin to think that you own another person to the point where you can control and make them remove any symbol from their own private property, you have gone too far. The article titled, “ 2 In Alabama Say They Got Fired For Driving With Confederate Flag ” written by Jackie Salo for Internationa...

The Confederate Flag debate will soon be the same regarding the American Flag

This may not be what you true patriots wish to hear but it does not mean someone does not need to bring it to your attention.  We see those who so support the flying of the Confederate Flag crying real tears about what they think is an ending to their heritage.  It is not but some would want nothing more than for those who truly believe in that banner to fall for this ploy and be willing to pick up arms and die again for its colors.  Too bad, things that really end only end in our hearts.  If you are truly a lover of the Confederate Flag then you should know that no matter where it flies, on Capitol Grounds, in a museum, in your front yard or attached to your vehicle, the love for that glorious banner will only die if you strike its true meaning from your heart otherwise, it shall live on as long as there are those willing to see it live forever. For those who stand against it and call it a symbol of slavery, racism and bigotry, you are also correct but let us s...

My Reason for the Confederate Flags Coming Down, Not what you may think

What began as a banner for those who were convinced of the greatness of the south’s way of life to rally, fight and die under has now been reduced to a rally for those who would love to see a nation once divided separated again.  So for the reason for which it was created, those who share its heritage and hold close the primary purpose for its creation should be allowed to fly it and fly it proudly. It should not and never should again fly over Federal, State or local government buildings simply because there are some rightful citizens within this nation, this state and this community who do not care to embrace the results of this flag’s current reduced notation and since this country is bigger than the personal desires of one group, majority should rule as the primary principal of all states of this nation for which it stands. It should not and never again fly over Federal, State or local governmental offices and buildings because of the failure or the ancestors of those ...

Dylan Roof, his Manifesto and treatment should re-define Today’s Top Story

The media is all a buzzed by the Charleston shooter and his ramblings about why he committed murder of those unarmed victims in the church.  My first thought was where are the NRA members who claim that the best way to stop a bad man with a good is for good men to carry one?  They are examining his writings and using his words to define the stance he took but think back to the photos of how he was treated in his capture.  I do not recall military style weapons and equipment used to take him down and I do not recall anyone placing a bullet proof vest over the torso of anyone else that they captured. When you stop to dissect the differences between how one class of criminal is handled when compared to another class of criminal, you may began to see a disturbing pattern, or maybe it is just me.  We classify something like this, the Newtown Shooting, the Colorado mass killings and others as breaking news and today’s top story when it really is not.  We glorify ...

Exposing the Con of Donald Trump was a teachable moment

What the recent development has taught us is some people are allowed freedoms that others are not.   No one asked for the long form or any proof of citizenship from any of the other 43 presidents but from the 44 th it was deemed as a legit request.   What we should learn from this event is be careful what you wish for because you just might get it.   Donald Trump and his media minions played this up until it began to actually affect the average America out there.   Until it became such a conversation piece that many State legislatures was spending more time crafting a bill about this that they forgot why they were elected to serve.   They chased “birther bills” instead of “job creating” ones.   They spent more time concentrating on which side to line up on regarding this document than they did concentrating on the major issues facing those very voters who were crying out for their help.   “ This is why there are quotes in the article written by Rache...

The First Amendment extends to all, even a self-proclaimed “Pure Redneck”

It’s becoming increasingly clear that many are focusing too much on symbols to determine the mindset or belief system of another.   While being born and raised in the south and experiencing racism first-hand, I know for a fact that a flag does not represent who you are.   It’s time we all took a step back and take a breath. While it is true that many southern group that promote racism carries around the Confederate Flag and to people born into times as I was, seeing that flag does raise a lot of suspicions, but suspicions does not make for truth.   Many African-Americans, Hispanics and poor Whites know this first hand because it is that same suspicion that gets us followed around the stores when we go shopping.   It’s that same suspicion which causes us to lose out on a good job or an opportunity to advance our lives and the lives of our families.   We know this suspicion oh too well.   The article by Associated Press writer Jeff Barnard titled Ore. bu...
