Movie Review-Mending the Line

The movie “Mending the Line” is a story about a Marine wounded in Afghanistan who is sent to a V.A. facility in Montana where he meets a Vietnam Vet who teaches him how to fly fish as a way of dealing with his emotional and physical trauma. The films director is Joshua Caldwell, writer Stephen Camelio and stars Brian Cox, Patricia Heaton, and Perry Mattfeld. Now when I saw the trailer, I was a little apprehensive about watching the movie because lately it seems that almost anything sends me back to my time in the Marines and host of unreconciled feelings as well as a few more nightmares but this one was different.   It showed true emotions and feelings as well as top notch action and drama, but the overall ending result was a massive feeling of joy and happiness that could never be explained or put into words. I am not about to sit here and try and tell you the entire movie because there is no way that I could capture the beauty and satisfying mark it will leave on you. ...

Detractors of Ridley Scott’s Exodus: Gods and Kings Missing the Point

I can understand the concern expressed by those who say that the movie by Ridley Scott has mostly white actors but to be completely honest, I think that they either do not wish to understand director Scott’s motivation nor are they concerned by a far more important element of the movie. In an article titled “ Director Ridley Scott Responds To Outcry Over His Mostly White Cast In "Exodus: Gods And Kings "  written by Amanda Andrade for the New York Daily News, she reports that “After Ridley Scott’s newest film, "Exodus: Gods and Kings,” was unveiled to the public, many people were upset that Egyptian characters were played by white actors. Scott has finally spoken out about the controversy and said those angered by his casting choices need to “get a life.”  “The biblical film, which cost about $140 million to produce, features big name actors like Christian Bale, who plays Moses.” Point one is simply Moses has been played by white actors since Hollywood began ste...

How Hollywood can help us keep our Children Safe

Ask any parent what is the number one responsibility of a parent and they will say to protect their children.  I know this because I have asked plenty of them and this was the same response from me as well.  I have recently discovered that this reason ad this reason alone may be the primary reason that so many parents fail and so many children are then lost to the streets.  A parent’s number one responsibility is not to protect our children, it is to educate them. Now the title of this piece is how Hollywood can help but before we get to that, we need to explain why protection is not number one and education is.  Think on this; as a parent you set yourself to believe that you need to protect your child and when you fail to do just that, a world of misery is dumped directly upon you.  You feel inferior and weak because your child is hurting and there seems to be nothing you can do to ease or stop it.  You sit there with your head up your butt wondering ...

Anti-Obama Documentary sheds light not on Obama but on Makers

In a time when it appears that money is the primary and sometimes sole motivator behind movements we make, it is apparent that this may have been the only true reason for the new anti-Obama documentary as evidenced by The Huffington Post in an article titled 2016: Obama's America' Expands Into More Theaters Amid Accuracy Issues by Kia Makarechi.  I say this because it appears that it’s co-director, Dinesh D’Souza and it’s producer, Gerald Molen, have risked their reputation to present a movie that is supposed to be based on fact while showing severe indifference. The article chronicles the rise of the gross at the box office “this past weekend” as well as the expansion of it’s audience.  It states that “Molen defended the project as “fair and truthful” in a recent interview” but “the Associated Press fact-checked the film, which attempts to trace the roots of Obama's ideology. The newswire service found a number of errors or claims that are not made in good faith”.  Th...
