The Five Truths

When people say “the truth” they often are confused as to what this truly mean.   Many will tell you that there are but two ways to do things, the right way, and the wrong way when really there are quite a few more ways.   These other ways are often hidden from the view of many because they are never recognized or unacceptable to suit our idea of the truth. There is the perceived truth which spawns all other truths.   This perceived truth originates from what you were told, what you have learned and what you have perceived during your lifetime.   The number one reason for it being the perceived truth is that what we view as the majority of human beings believe.   Consider being told that the sky was blue.   We perceive this to be true based upon it being widely accepted and repeated as the truth, but what if whomever gave us the name of colors were wrong and what we consider blue now is brown.   Would then the sky be brown instead of blue? T...

Why Evil exists in the World

For years I have struggled with this question and was never able to even provide a decent answer to those who would ask.  I never was sure why evil exist and I would simply say that possibly it was because of the “yin and yang” theory.  For those of you who may not be familiar with this theory, it is the theory of in order to know well, you need to know badly and opposite things must exist to help us better understand the difference between them.  That was then but today, I have a much different theory and one that I believe matches better than the previous theory. The reason this question was so very hard for me to answer was because as you read Genesis of the Old Testament, you see God creating the worlds and everything in it.  You hear how happy he was and you read that it was good.  Also in the Old Testament, you hear the multiple of stories depicting God’s love, compassion and caring ways so it makes sense to ask the question, if God truly so loved the...

The only Problem with Goals

We hear people telling us all of the time that the one thing we need to establish within our lives are goals.  Levels within our lives that we would like to achieve in order that we feel satisfied with life at the end of our term or successful.  We call it a legacy or something that we can look back upon in our golden years to show that the many days we existed here upon this earth was indeed fruitful and not a waste.  We tell ourselves this in order to feel better about the times we fail to act or fail at fulfill.  Now while I must admit, goals are a good thing to have, I do agree that goals are for the reasons previously stated.  My own personal take on a goal is that it can measure your seriousness about accomplishing the mission you have assigned to yourself and not some idea that others have saddled you with but like all things there is always a good and a bad. The only bad thing that I can come up with when it comes to setting goals is not that some a...

Why Evil will never win

For all of you citizens who think that there are no “good” cops and for you cops that this that there are no “good” citizens, this story is for you and it is all the proof you may need to understand why I say evil will never win.  The article is titled “ Florida teen saves life of Fort Lauderdale police officer as he is being arrested ” written by David Edwards for The Raw Story.  It reports “A Florida teenager was honored on Tuesday for helping to save the life of a Fort Lauderdale police officer who was processing his arrest for a parole violation.  Video released by the Fort Lauderdale Police Department shows Officer Franklin Foulks processing Jamal Rutledge after he was arrested for criminal mischief and burglary probation violations, according to WTVJ.  When Foulks suddenly collapsed, Rutledge “immediately began to kick the security fence and yell to alert officers in the area,” a statement from the Fort Lauderdale Police Department said.  Sgt. Todd Bunin ...

Why bad things happen to Good People

Please don’t get it confused, I do not protest to be the sharpest tool in the shed but even I can see why bad things happen to good people.  This has always been one of the most important questions asked but never answered.  The other was why this world is going to hell in a hand basket.  I think I can answer both those now. As it is my nature, I am going to answer both these questions in the most simplest of terms I can as well as with one point.  That point is, bad things happen to good people and this world is going to hell in a hand basket because good people are sitting too long on their brains and not standing up for what they know is right fast enough. Imagine that police officer who wrote letters to his superiors in Fenton Missouri where that young man, Michael Brown was just shot and killed.  He waited several months before even doing that because he feared losing his job or being retaliated against.  At what point does fear of retaliation...

The Answer to the Question of Where is all of the Good Men

Women of all stripes and sizes have often been heard asking the question of “where have all of the good men gone” and to my recollection there has been little to no real answer.  That was until now. You want to know where the good men have gone; the real answer is that they have not gone at all.  The good man is the one who has always had your back regardless of whether the incident or event was of your own doing or not.  The good man is the one who answers your phone call each and every time you call and never ignores your plea for a friendly ear or a comfortable shoulder to lean on.  The good man is that diehard friend who has maintained contact with you throughout the years.  The good man is the one who listen when you talk, desires to hold you when you cry and suffers with you when you are in pain.  The good man is the one who tells you the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth about everything even if they know that is not what you want...

My Newest Life Lesson

I used to think that there were others who had a different talent than I did and could do some things that I couldn’t.  I’m now beginning to believe that I was wrong.  I am now beginning to believe that it is only a matter of two things which allows others to accomplish things that some can’t.  Those two things are desire and interest with interest carrying an additional second phase. I am now beginning to believe that the only difference between those who can and those who can’t is desire.  Desire is the lacking and wanting to learn what others are doing to achieve a goal which has thus far proven to be somewhat elusive to you.  If you have a desire to learn then you can learn anything from anyone at any time.  If you do not have the desire to learn then you may never reach that pinnacle.  If you do find yourself with the desire to learn once that is accomplish you must then develop interest.  If you have no interest in that particular s...
