The Theater of Religion

I am sure, by now, many of you have heard the story of the 103 year old lady who was recently banned from a church she had attended since she was 13 years old and even the secretary of that church for a number of years.  Like most of you, when I first heard it I was upset because the God that I know is not the God that this church, and many others like it, don’t.  The God that I know accepts all regardless of color, sex, and even sins but apparently this church and its leaders seem to wish to develop what they call a place of God into their vision instead of leaving it to God to form that building as he/she sees fit.  Part of the story is presented below. The title of this article is “ 103-year-old Georgia woman banned from lifelong church ” from MyFoxAtlanta sourcing from TheGrio.com states “ A 103-year-old Georgia woman was recently banned from attending her lifelong Baptist church, causing a rift in the local community. reports, Genora Hamm Biggs has been worshipi...

Desecration of the Flag will get you Famous disrespecting cops will get you killed

Never ceases to amaze me how out of one side of your neck, you can say you love and support the troops while out of the other side you are desecrating the very banner all American troops fight and even die under.  Many say that this is a form of and a right to speak freely but we all know it is and never will be the proper form of protest so many wishes us to believe.  This article titled “ Hundreds attend rally at Valdosta State University ” taken from wbatv.com Tells us “ tensions are building on the campus of Valdosta State University after a flag protest.  Channel 2's Matt Belanger traveled to Valdosta where thousands of her supporters gathered Friday some are calling the woman a hero. Belanger spoke to students who said they support what  protesters  did Friday, but they weren't happy VSU cancelled classes as a national debate over treatment of the American flag came to the South Georgia city. "I just hate to see that kind of hatred in anyone," sa...

Something about this Story does not Pass the Smell Test

Many of us depend on the media to give us the pertinent information from which we can create and build our opinion but lately the media has become the catalysts that forms that opinion.  We read only a few of the lines because we now look only to the headline to tell us how we should feel about a particular subject.  Some of us have gotten wise to this and now will read the entire article once maybe twice and diagnosis what the writer was trying to get us to believe as well as seeing a few points that they might have missed.  This is one of these such stories. It is titled “Missing Atlanta teen was hidden in plain sight in Georgia suburb for four years” from an unknown author for an unknown publication but to understand what I am trying to say, you have got to read the entire article which is below. “Police found Gregory Jean Jr hidden behind a false wall, a captive in his father’s house, but for four years he had been in plain sight, an abused child growing up i...

Judge shows true disdain for women must make his mother proud

I have heard plenty of times how those who are supposed to leave personal feelings at home and not bring them to work are able to do it.  Well this judge clearly cannot and my only question now is, how he was able to hide this and get his seat on the bench. In an article titled “ Judge scolds Atlanta attorney for showing up in court with her baby ” by Brigid Schulte for The Washington Post, she reports on a situation where a judge denied a pregnant attorney/mother the luxury of taking care of family first so that she could be more professional at her job.  The article reports that “in September, Stacy Ehrisman-Mickle, an immigration attorney in Atlanta, agrees to take a new case. She learns a preliminary hearing has already been set for October, when she expects to be on her six-week maternity leave. Not to worry, she tells her clients, two other judges in two other cases have granted her requests to delay hearings. She’s sure theirs will as well.  He  doesn't ....

The Arbitrary Application of the Stand Your Ground Law

Supporters of the Stand your Ground Law wonder why all of the fuss about this law and many have attributed to just a few race-baiters or troublemakers.   Sad for them that they have refused to look just a little below the surface of this debate because if they did, their concerns may have been answered. The main disingenuous result of this law is how it makes work for some and not for others.   A law is supposed to be enforced equally throughout society but this one is not.   Take for example the differences between the Trayvon Martin case and Dana Hancock shooting.   When the Trayvon Martin case came to light, some immediately jumped on the side of George Zimmerman and preached how he was justified in shooting Trayvon but this same action did not happen when it came to Steve Sims Jr. in Atlanta Georgia. According to an article written by Jennifer Mayerle of CBS Atlanta titled “ Man claims Georgia 'stand your ground' law should apply to his case” it wa...

Jobs may be the only silver lining to US storms cloud

With the death toll currently at 313 lives lost and billions of dollars possible, there is very little to be thankful for.   Survivors will be grateful for their lives and the lives of friends and family but may never recover from the death of those closest to them as well as those from neighboring states and communities.   The one thing that we know for sure it that America will recover and as we do in all tragedies, come together as one to help our fellow Americans rebuild better than before.   This is of course who we really are as a nation despite all of the rhetoric and vitriol spewed from a small section of this nation.   We are one and all connected to a much better and higher purpose which binds one to another. As reported by Juan Castro Olivera of the Associated Press in his article titled Sprawling devastation as US storm toll tops 310 “v iolent twisters that famously rip through the US south's "Tornado Alley" are formed when strong jet winds bringing upp...

South Carolina seeking its own currency is this nation headed for another Civil War?

It appears that the new crop of politicians is coming up with extraordinary laws and ways to make the whole world wonder if the United States has really lost its mind.   Talk about not being seen as a leader in the eyes of other countries anymore, on these current track politicians will have us back in the stone ages real soon now. According to an article by Liz Goodwin titled South Carolina lawmaker wants separate currency for state .   “A South Carolina state politician wants the state to develop its own gold and silver-based currency in case the Federal Reserve collapses and hyper-inflation ensues.”   "If folks lose faith in the dollar, we need to have some kind of backup," State Sen. Lee Bright told the Spartanburg Herald Journal's Stephen Largen .”     “Slate's Annie Lowrey tracks down similar bills in Georgia and Virginia , and points out that the legislation reflects a larger trend of state politicians wading into monetary policy. A bill in Georgia ...
