Stumbled upon this article titled “Commentary: Walker’s budget calls for schools to stop reporting sexual assaults” written by Shane Nicholson, Managing Editor of The Rock River Times.  It was so unbelievable that I had to read it several times to make sure that what I thought I read was really what I read.  If you haven’t read it, pick up the March 4-10, 2015 Volume 22 Issue and find it on page 12 in the Commentary Section.  I am sure you are not going to believe your eyes. The commentary reports that “ Buried in Scott Walker’s proposed budget for the state of Wisconsin, which calls for over $300 million in cuts to higher education, is a small note of massive consequence.  The Republican governor would like schools to cease the reporting sexual assaults on college campuses.  Here’s the passage in its entirety: 25. Much has been said about Camille Cosby, the wife of comedian Bill Cosby, coming out to defend her husband in a written statement.  I don’t find that hard to believe seeing as how they have been together for quite some years and probably have survived much worse than this in their years of marriage that did not make the papers or cable news.  I think that I would have been more confused and seen it as a bigger point had she not. Now we can look at this in a couple of ways.  The first being that after so long of marriage, Ms. Cosby may be blind to the adventures of her husband or just wish to remain in the dark.  I can’t really follow that because this would imply that Ms. Cosby is slow and stupid which could never be further from the truth.  Camille Cosby probably knows more than many of us combined and has probably forgotten more than many of us will ever know so her being oblivious does not make sense to me.  The second point could be that she is comp...

Yesterday I was quite dismayed to learn that one of our largest states within this United States of America has reduced the number of abortion clinics from 44 to less than 20.  I found that disturbing because I was wondering who or what entered the minds and heads of those in charge to believe that they had the power to dictate the actions of others  minus rules and laws designed to prevent the loss of life.  I wondered where in the heck was the mother, sisters, daughters, aunts and grandmothers who sit idly by and watched this happened.  I wondered where were the “real” men who stood by and allowed another person to take away the rights of his wife, mother, daughter, aunt or grandmother.  I wondered this because unless I am sadly mistaken, if you take all of the rich folks and placed them on one side of the road, then take all of the rest of us and placed us on the other side, the rich would never have as much voice, power or influence as we would. Experts say that there are many different causes and influences that have a lot to do with our actions and reactions to events.   Influences are thought to be things like knowledge which is nothing more than getting your own way, opportunity which is the chance to act out on what you believe and choose.   Choice is nothing more than choosing to act in a particular way or not.     Causes are sometimes defined as those things which lead you to choice or lack of.   Things like alcohol which we all know impairs one judgment, childhood which convinces us that the actions and reactions you saw growing up is the only way and all we may know.   Previous relationships may help us learn coping mechanisms and now we decide to use these skills in all relationships afterwards.   Drugs which not only impairs your judgment but can also cause many other lingering and long-lasting problems seldom solving any while creating even more, stress which is nothing m...

As a single father, I am truly upset at some of the reported actions of parents who act long before they think.   It makes those like me who work hard at raising my children to respect another and only using violence to protect themselves feel as though I may be the only one teaching this.   I know that is not the case but rarely do we ever hear or see anything about the decent parents who know that raising children is the most frustrating and yet rewarding job in the world.   This is just one of the indirect damage caused by thoughtless parents.
