Your only true limitations are those you place upon yourself

Growing up in the south, I heard many stories and was lied to many times.  The stories I heard of was about the accepted fact that black men were either destined for jail, the graveyard or limited to working as a farm hand or in the local cotton gin.  I heard these stories from both blacks and whites and after a while began to believe them and settle in for what I was destined to do.  What changed was among those stories was the fact that as a black man, it would be a miracle to even graduate high school.  Like all children growing up, I dreamed of that big house with that white picket fence surrounding it and being able to walk out on my porch and be addressed as mister instead of boy.  To be able to purchase what I wanted when I wanted and do for my mother more than she had ever done for me.  I wanted her to be proud of the boy that she had raised and the man I had become.  It was my desire to not have her want for anything and not have to work so h...

Out of the mouths of Babes come the words of God

For many of those still searching to hear the word of God, closely pay attention to the voice of a child.  A child that has not yet been tainted by the disease of evil, a child that speaks softly and has more wisdom than most adults who may have existed far too long in this hell-hole of our own creation. I speak about the recent tragedies of children dying like the article titled “ Desperate search for missing two-year-old Noah Chamberlin ends in tragedy as boy's body is found a week after vanishing while on a hike with his grandmother”   found in the Daily Mail or this article titled “ 5-Year-Old Boy Fatally Shot in Beloit found on WIFR dot com.  Remember back when your child begged you not to fight.  Did you listen or did you allow evil to possess you and wanted to make sure you taught whomever a lesson about messing with you?  Do you constantly tell your children not to take anything from anyone and the true measure of a little boy being a man is when h...

The Inequality of Domestic Violence-Larry’s Voice

Some time ago, I penned an article titled “Police Brutality is not something you already have it is cultivated and taught” (you can find it here: http://copwatchnews.com/exclusive/police-brutality-is-not-something-you-already-have-it-is-cultivated-and-taught-2/ ).  In that article I included a portion of a story I read involving Officer Larry Bushart attempting to show how the failure of supervisors and managers of our police departments can result in good cops going bad and making bad decisions without first considering the ramifications that comes with the honor of wearing the badge.  I was contacted by Mr. Bushart with an explanation of his situation and even though we disagreed about whether his divorce and the circumstances around it were included in this article, I did come to realize that both his and my own personal experience was quite similar.  I then took up his call to pen this article and I share all this with you in hopes that you gleam from it that even th...

Jobs may be the only silver lining to US storms cloud

With the death toll currently at 313 lives lost and billions of dollars possible, there is very little to be thankful for.   Survivors will be grateful for their lives and the lives of friends and family but may never recover from the death of those closest to them as well as those from neighboring states and communities.   The one thing that we know for sure it that America will recover and as we do in all tragedies, come together as one to help our fellow Americans rebuild better than before.   This is of course who we really are as a nation despite all of the rhetoric and vitriol spewed from a small section of this nation.   We are one and all connected to a much better and higher purpose which binds one to another. As reported by Juan Castro Olivera of the Associated Press in his article titled Sprawling devastation as US storm toll tops 310 “v iolent twisters that famously rip through the US south's "Tornado Alley" are formed when strong jet winds bringing upp...

Elections really do have Consequences

During the midterm when so many progressive groups were piling on DINOs (Democrats in Name Only), they were also giving many democratic voters an excuse to stay home.   It should be abundantly clear now that the advice was flawed.   Staying home allowed the House of Representatives to be taken over by the Republicans and it gave State Legislatures a new look as well as ushered in a new crop of Governors with them.     This is the result of sitting home while your country cries out for involvement and a new direction. The House of Representatives promised to focus on jobs but so far all we have heard is an all out assault on women rights.   Not one job has been created and so far the message is focused on cutting more jobs and putting many more out of work.   There were opportunities to create jobs with this new vision of high speed rail but many Governors are saying no to that as well.   Talking bout budget shortfalls, would not creating the environme...
