One of the most interesting and a questionable thing that has happened in the new lately has been this article reported by the Inquisitr.com titled “Detroit Water Fight: Activists Ask United Nations to Declare Service a Basic Human Right”.  In it they report that “nearly half of Detroit water customers cannot pay their bills, so they are turning to the United Nations for help. Activists on the Detroit People’s Water Board are now lobbying the UN to declare access to water service a basic human right to ensure that those who can’t or merely don’t pay their water bills continue access to the flowing liquid when they turn on their faucets.  The average Detroit water bill is $75 per month. According to a Free Press report, the average monthly water bill in other areas of the country is approximately $40 per month.  Detroit water and sewer rates have reportedly doubled in the past 10 years. I have not been in agreement with much that has come from the United Nations but I am in agreement with the U.N. chief as quoted in the CNN Wire Staff’s article titled U.N. chief: Violence in Ivory Coast must stop after Gbagbo's arrest .   It reports that “ the chief of the United Nations called for President Alassane Ouattara to ensure there is no retaliation against supporters of a former leader whose refusal to step aside spurred a civil war.”   That does not cover those troops who still fight after their leaders capture. They should be made acutely aware that continued fighting and provoking of unrest in the region means that they are now no longer considered soldiers but common criminals and shall be treated as such.   The Ivory Coast needs now to put this civil unrest in their past and concentrate on the future.   There has been enough killing and lives lost, it is now time to rebuild their country and come together for a much better future.   For those d...

Since the beginning of this Libyan conflict, I have heard nothing but negativity coming from those in front of the cameras.   Channel to channel finds many of them saying either this president moved too slow or moved too fast, this president is doing too much or is not doing enough.   I was able to convince myself that it was mainly just politics but after reading this article from the CNN Wire Staff titled NATO gets key support as it readies to lead Libya mission , it seems possible that it may be much more than that. Before I even get started, I must first inform all that I am in no way a mind-reader or sage of any kind.   I am however able to see more in a rose than just the fact that it’s a flower.   Recent events and news articles have made me come to a conclusion that the primary plan of Gadhafi’s forces has been dealt a serious blow by the UN resolution of a no-fly zone combined with the approval of using any force necessary to protect Libya’s civilians. The first indication of this was the report from an Associated Press article titled 4 New York Times journalists found in Libya.   In this article it is revealed that the journalist were “ captured by forces loyal to Moammar Gadhafi” it further reported that “the last contact with these journalist had last been on Tuesday and that they will “be released Friday.”   This information leads me to believe that it had been the plan of Gadhafi forces to hold on to these journalists to record their successful crushing of the rebels...
