Keith Olbermann coming back, be still my heart

Joe Pompeo ’s article titled Keith Olbermann announces new ‘Countdown’ contributors was very good news to someone who loved his show on MSNBC and enjoyed his take on the Worst Person in the World.   The article reported that “Keith Olbermann's forthcoming prime time show on Current TV is starting to take shape, ahead of its June 20 premiere .   Olbermann has high expectations for the program, which bears the same name as his former news hour on MSNBC. But he has a lot of catching up to do--Current, which launched in 2005, is available only in 60 million U.S. households--a much smaller audience than its competitors.”   It may open to a smaller audience but I am confident that it will grow and become as popular as his other offering. While it must be said that I do not agree with everything that Mr. Olbermann says or every stance that he takes, it is still the only real place where we can disagree without being disagreeable.   I believe even with just “only in 60...

Say it isn’t so Charlie

I attempted to defend Charlie Sheen when I first heard his story but he is making it harder and harder to do.   I really love him as an actor and can’t forget some of the magnificent scenes in so many of the movies he was in.   I even found myself watching a few segments of his show but after this article I think its time for Charlie to go. According to Lynn Elber, Television Writer for the Associated Press article titled Sorry, Charlie: Studio denies `Men' return talks it was reported that “ Sheen told a Boston radio station Tuesday that there was an "85 percent" chance of his returning to "Two and a Half Men."   “A letter from the firm of Munger, Tolles & Olson to Sheen's attorney, Marty Singer, says there are no discussions regarding Sheen rejoining "Two and Half Men" and there will be none.”   When the lies began to become so obvious, the bottom is not too far behind.   Its when many forget that they are watching a Hollywood star and beli...

Co-creator of “Pimp My Ride” and former “Survivor” producer should face murder charges in Mexico

In an age where so many are not being held responsible for their actions or inactions, this article was not such a surprise but it did make me want to offer a few thoughts.   These thoughts are nothing new and have been expressed by more than I at one time or another.   The Associated Press article titled Feds: TV producer should be extradited to Mexico reported that “ U.S. Justice Department officials say former "Survivor" reality television producer Bruce Beresford-Redman should be extradited to Mexico to stand trial for the killing of his wife during a Cancun vacation last spring.”   It further explained that “the 39-year-old and has been fighting extradition in jail since Nov. 16 as well as “the body of 41-year-old Monica Beresford-Redman was found April 8 in a wastewater treatment pump at a Cancun resort. An autopsy says she was struck on the head and asphyxiated.”   Even though Redman has publicly protested his innocence of this crime, it is still a responsibi...

Could Doral be seen as the end of the Tiger Woods era?

After reading this Doug Ferguson article for Associated Press titled Watney comes up big to win at Doral , I was left with one thought.   Could this be the end of the Woods era in golf?   I quickly came up wit an answer and the answer is “NO”. Ferguson’s article focused on Nick Watney as it should because he did win the tournament with quite an array of world class golfer like Woods and Michelson but what brought me back to the initial question was something that Ferguson had in this article and especially something Woods said.   “Tiger Woods matched his best score of the year with a 6-under 66, and when Rory McIlroy dunked his tee shot into the water on the 18th hole and made bogey, that enabled Woods to tie for 10th.   It was his first top 10 in an official PGA Tour event in nine months, dating to the U.S. Open.”   "I want to win golf tournaments ... and I didn't do that this week," Woods said. "But I showed positive signs for the next time I play, which is a...

“Break out Kings” —Pilot

Catch “Breakout Kings” at its regular time Sunday s 10:00 PM (EST) on A&E Fox’s loss is A&E’s gain.   It has been reported that this show first pitched this idea to the Fox Channel who refused it only to have A&E pick it up.   The decision maker from Fox may now have to live with the fact they threw away a runaway hit.   Here is just a little of what is in store for anyone watching this show. The first thing to be aware of is Charlie DuChamp (Laz Alonso) has waited for years to finally get away from behind the desk of the US Marshall Service where a weak heart landed him and this is the same ailment that killed his father some time ago.   His drive to make this work is rooted in finally getting a chance to prove him self and being the only official US Marshall Representative makes him more than responsible for the results shown by this experiment.   This drives him to be somewhat “heavy handed” but as time and relationships build, he seems to be co...

Keith Olbermann to Current TV

I was wondering when he would surface and where he would land.   It is nice to see that he will be back on the air soon and giving us something to think about as he did on MSNBC.   While I hated to see him go, I am glad that he is back. I did not agree with everything he said nor did I appreciate some of the tactics he used to get there but I could disagree with him and still watch his show because there would be times that he would say it just like it was without apology.   I could respect that and he would also bring to light topics that others skimmed over or refused to air at all.   Topics that put a real face to the problem and made even the hardest of us stop and think. I look forward to his time slot on MSNBC and planned my day around it because with Chris coming before and Rachel coming afterwards, I could hear the same topic covered a couple different ways which made for good TV.   I don’t know if I get Current TV in my viewing area but I can only hop...
