For decades, congregations have sat and listened to preachers, pastors, rabbis, and other religious leaders tell them about God’s gift of eternal life.  They have given them some indications as to how to acquire this precious gift but few ever recall those lessons or refuse to heed the warnings. We all should have heard the story of Former NBA Basketball Star Lamar Odom and how so many may be attempting to use this tragedy as a stepping stone to some sort of fame.  Mr. Odom is reported to be still hanging one even though it is also reported that some of his organs have failed but what we have been is the actions of a very classy lady who may have gotten her fame from reality TV but has consistently shown herself to be totally real. Now please don’t get it twisted, I do not like this new genre of television called Reality TV because in my world, there is nothing real about it but to see the behind the scenes movement of Khloe Kardashian would make even a most ardent evader of reality shows want to watch more of her.  We all can surmise that this event is quite devastating to those who truly love Lamar, not those who just pretend and by the actions of Khloe; you can’t help but feel that this lady has nothing but real love for her husband.  I say this because ...

According to an article titled “ VA Moves to Prevent Veteran Violence Over Disability Claims ”  “Veterans Affairs officials want to change when soldiers can view some of their medical records online, fearing veterans could become violent if they see negative comments and think their disability claims will be denied.  Veterans must get a medical exam as part of the process for filing a disability claim for a service-related injury. Within days or weeks of the exam, veterans can see the doctor's forms or notes by using the "Blue Button" on My HealtheVet, the VA's website for health records.  A group of department officials said Monday that they fear veterans could see the notes from the exam, assume from this partial picture that their claim is being denied, and take out their anger on local VA officials. They voiced their safety concerns Monday to members of the department's Advisory Committee on Disability Compensation at their meeting this week in Washington. ...

Throughout the years since the creation of this nation, America has learned by trial and error.  It is something that many of us today without even thinking about it and unless we begin to make changes to this, we shall continue to learn that way.  What I mean is simple, it took a severe case of polio to infect those on this shore and many died before we created a cure and learned how to deal with it.  This is the same case here dealing with Ebola.  America felt no need to prepare for Ebola when it was first discovered because it was not happening here so we ignored it and underestimated it until that day in Dallas when Mr. Duncan came to visit and make marriage plans with his fiancée.   The Texas Hospital had no earthly idea what it was dealing with and only after the CDC entered the picture did they began to get a real clue of what they had.  Mr. Duncan died a hero because the things that they did wrong in his case will be the guidelines used to...

With all of this recent discovery of the trials and tribulations that veterans have to endure daily just to get those benefits that they were promised and those that they earned, one would think that this was just a flux accident and that these occurrences are not as common as many have claimed.  Those that think that way would be gravely mistaken.  For years now, promises made to those who were willing to get up their very lives to keep this country safe have been reigned upon by so many. It is nice to sometimes hear people say to you that they appreciate your service but because of the numerous obstacles and hurdles you have to overcome just to get those benefits you earned makes that saying mute.  It’s not that we are ungrateful for the sentiment but we would like to see more accomplish to make our returning journey home a little bit more easier to make that sentiment mean what those who say it think it does.
