The Five Truths

When people say “the truth” they often are confused as to what this truly mean.   Many will tell you that there are but two ways to do things, the right way, and the wrong way when really there are quite a few more ways.   These other ways are often hidden from the view of many because they are never recognized or unacceptable to suit our idea of the truth. There is the perceived truth which spawns all other truths.   This perceived truth originates from what you were told, what you have learned and what you have perceived during your lifetime.   The number one reason for it being the perceived truth is that what we view as the majority of human beings believe.   Consider being told that the sky was blue.   We perceive this to be true based upon it being widely accepted and repeated as the truth, but what if whomever gave us the name of colors were wrong and what we consider blue now is brown.   Would then the sky be brown instead of blue? T...

Has the Electoral Commission/College become obsolete?

To a person, I am sure that you will hear that this nation was founded on the principal of inclusion.  Where people of many different cultures, races and religions could come and be welcomed.  It was founded on the idea that it didn’t matter where you came from or who your family was, the only thing that mattered is your willingness to work hard for what you receive and your acceptance of the rules and regulations set down by those elected to represent the nation’s people as a whole.  These ideas seem now to be lost after the Clinton versus Trump presidential election.  It appears that now it is time to revisit a subject that many feel has been resolved long ago but as history really does have a tendency to do, it has repeated itself yet again. The major thought of citizens having a voice in who they wish to lead them has always been a cornerstone of thought but given very little consideration until recent events has now placed this thought front and center....

The Evil that Men do

Americans are quick to try and point out just how wonderful we are as a country and how the example we set to the world should be followed without question but what we forget is that America never started out that way and it only became what it is today from those who were of influence and authority, finally choosing to learn from history so as not to repeat it.  The width of history is great and it expands over billions of years.  In order to achieve a more perfect union, those of us willing must be courageous enough to take apart our history and restore it one piece at a time.  History is far too vast to fix in one setting which is why it takes generations upon generations to pick up where the previous generation left off.  One clear example of this is discrimination. We are well aware of the history when it comes to slaves and the plight of Native Americans but what we may not know or realize is that African-Americans and Native Americans have something in co...

High School Mentality and Ideology killing Democracy

There was a time and place where Americans were more concerned with who could do the job more than they were who was in the job.  It used to be a time whether experience doing a job was important but not more important than the desire, temperament, patience, character and willingness to compromise.  We used to look for people who was confident in what they believed, would stand firm when those beliefs were tested but not so rigid that violent aggression was the only answer left. Sad to say that this is not the case anymore.  Now we look for people we can have a beer with and those who talk tough and pretend to be willing to die for their principals.  We look for those whose face could don the cover of magazines or a cultured pedigree.  We look for those who hold a particular type of job or have attended a particular type of school.  We want people who look likes us, think like us, act like us and believe like us.  We do not care for anyone who...

“Fake” Outrage sparks more Ugliness at Political Rallies and we are better for it

Much is being said and many are claiming to demand that the media and all others step up and stand up to bulling at political rallies but the more we protest these actions the more coverage they get and those actions that should be prominent in our news cycle of Americans doing right by each other gets all the more ignored.  Like this article titled “ The Media And Trump's Rally Thugs ” written by Eric Boehlert for his Media Matters Blog.  Mr. Boehlert recalls “ Donald Trump's rallies may have reached a new apex of bigotry and intolerance last week when on two occasions protesters were set upon by agitated Trump supporters. In Lowell, Massachusetts, they tore up a "God Bless President Obama" sign, and then hurled insults at a Muslim woman wearing a "I Come In Peace" t-shirt who was escorted out of a Trump rally in Rock Hill, South Carolina.  According to tweets from inside the South Carolina event, jacked-up Trump supporters were anxious to randomly kick ou...

Opposing retired Generals and Admirals of the Iran Deal join others with blood on their hands.

To say that I was disappointed to hear that any Marine Corp retired general and Navy Admiral signed onto a letter opposing and even supporting the Iran Nuclear Deal would be an understatement.  I am disappointed because I thought expected more.  I expected more because an enlisted man is supposed to be able to trust that they would set the example and have all of their ducks in a row before voicing any opinion whether in public or private. I am dismayed because it appears that none of them has ever really sat down and read the agreement.  I am dismayed because it appears that many of those with whom we are supposed to see as experts in their field, has decided to base their support or opposition purely on what they heard or was led to believe was in it.  These are the same group of parties that many families trusted with the health and welfare of their children and if this is an example of how they reached decisions about anything having to do with our military, no ...

What ever happened to Responsible Journalism

According to an article written by Ben Dimiero for Media Matters titled “ NY Times Issues Second Major Correction To Botched Report On Clinton's Emails” it is reported that “ this morning, the New York Times issued a second substantial correction to its anonymously-sourced report that originally hyped a potential Department of Justice investigation into former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's use of personal email. The paper has now removed the claim -- which appeared in both the article's headline and first sentence -- that two inspectors general were seeking a "criminal" investigation into the handling of Clinton's emails. The paper has not addressed numerous lingering questions about both the sourcing and vetting of its report, with their corrections instead blaming the errors on "information from senior government officials" who remain anonymous. Times public editor Margaret Sullivan indicated on Twitter that she plans to weigh in on the s...

Data Mining, the New Dot Com Bubble

During the “Clinton Years”, people still pine those times when life was good, jobs were plentiful and the internet was the next great thing.  Dot com companies were sprouting up all over and millions of dollars were being made from them being bought and sold.  Silicon Valley became the new New York and the mecca for young, talented eggheads who spent far too much time sitting in front of a computer than they did in front of real people.  The internet was the place to be if you wanted to make your fortune and you could find anything and everything that you’re little heart desired. Well now, only few things have changed.  You can still find almost anything on the internet and more people are now parked in front of their computers instead of parked at the dinner table.  Technology has replaced face to face contact and relationships for human beings can now be judged by the number of hits on any particular dating site.  Silicon Valley is seldom used in an ...
